Alright, nice to see a few others see Barry Odom as a legitimate candidate.

Damn .can people stop with the Mack must go? We don't know yet if Aranda is a mistake..but if he is and can't turn this around... doesn't Mack at least get a chance to rectify it?
I'd hate to work under some of you guys.

I'd take it. Thats pretty much the best we signed up for when we ran off the guy who would have had statues and nattys at the end of his career.

It's a hard place to win and the SEC West has been impossible for years. Odom is a high character guy with ties to this part of the country. UNLV hasn't had a coach with a winning record at the school since 1981.PartyBear said:
Do folks even check the records of these folks. Odum is a flash this particular season at UNLV this particular 4 games in. However at the P4 level he was about like we have been over all with Aranda. Herman is 6-11 at FAU. Anthony Lynn is a position coach basically in the NFL. We shouldnt and wouldnt gamble with that type of move again.
Ever since 1997 I have been rather opposed to going with one without HC experience. However the only person without HC experience I might consider and may consider a good hire is current Seahawk OC Ryan Grubb. He may be one of these offensive geniuses we like so much that is out there kind of under the radar. I think the only reason he is not the Bama OC right now is because he stayed behind and thought he might get promoted to HC at UW. He was successful as an OC as well with QBs other than Penix.
Anthony Lynn. Did you even check his record? He's from Texas, has been an NFL head coach, and is currently doing pretty well as OC of the Redskins.
Tom Herman because Mack knows him, he was successful at UH and Texas, and he hadn't been named.
I think you need to understand how this works!

He had a winning record and Mizzou was coming off of having their program destroyed by BLM so I give him a pass there.PartyBear said:DAC said:TeamPlayer said:Check the records? HC experience? He characterizes Odum as successful at Mizzou I assume he means?
He had a winning record in all but 2016. What else was going on at mizzoo campus during that time that helped pretty much destroy that school? The entire enrollment of the school dropped by 25% bc they had a BLM sit in protest on campus in 2015-16. I'm willng to give the guy a pass. We all know that Pinkel used the cover of health problems to retire and Odom had to step into a no win situation with unprecedented racial tensions going on.PartyBear said:
It is becoming more and more clear that most people here don't know what the hell they are talking about or think spreading disinformation is fun. Odum was 25-25 at the P4 level.

Oh the irony of this post. It's ODOM. Barry Odom shouldn't be real hard to get his name right. Unless… you're the one who has no idea what the hell he's talking about.

I'm not sure I would classify Mullen as a stereotypical retread. If he was in his 60s, I might agree, but the dude is 52 and still has a lot of coaching left in him. Mississippi State isn't an easy place to win, and the guy took a bad team and made them decent - and that's really what we need. I want a coach that has proven that he can take an inferior squad and beat a superior opponent - Mullen checks that box. I also didn't think he was bad at Florida.
My main questions for him would be about how he plans to manage the transfer portal and NIL, but that's one of the first questions I would ask any candidate

My wife is a Florida gator, therefore I have watched a lot of Florida football over the last 20 years. Mullen was a shoe throw away from locking up the Florida job for 10 years. He has a great eye for QB talent and runs a fun high octane offense. His biggest weakness was that he didn't like to recruit apparently.
Truth be told UF is a pressure cooker. Nobody can meet the expectations of that fan base.
He would be a great fit at Baylor.

Yes. He played favorites to such an extent with his players that he used food to punish those whom he did not like.
According to ESPN's Max Olson, Longhorns head coach Tom Herman has already started sorting his players into various groups: gold, green and crimson. Players labeled 'gold' are on the right track and rewarded with luxurious meals. Those in the crimson don't get quite the same treatment.
It was Bush's baked beans, hots dogs and burnt burgers for the losers over there," senior defensive end Naashon Hughes told Olson. "The winners got steak, shrimp, pasta, cheesecake and a triple chocolate cake."
Herman's been known to have a precise rewards and punishment system throughout his young coaching career. He featured a similar system at Houston: Winners feasted on a buffet of breakfast options, while losers ate burnt biscuits and watered-down eggs.

Nothing you said, but I've seen Internet rumors of him being a creep, but I'm curious if there is actual substance to that.

I never called him creepy but since you brought it up… it's hard to quantify creepiness, however, the dude just exudes it.
When he was at UH, he called out the local sports radio market in a press conference for not giving UH enough coverage on the air. So the guys from 610 Sports Radio invited him to call in and discuss the team. He proceeded to scream at them like a petulant child for the entire segment.
Herman had the perfect opportunity to be grateful and spread the word about UH football. Instead he blew it and became the punch line for the rest of his time in Houston.
He is not the right fit at Baylor.

Herman.
Remember that huge story when he was at Texas when the Ohio St assistant coach who used to go on recruiting trips with him when he was at Ohio St said he cheated on his wife at strip clubs and massage parlors?
