this may be the most clown world "controversy" in a world full of clown.
Art Briles already is serving a life sentence. Let’s go easy on the outrage of his postgame chat with Jeff Lebby on Owen Field. https://t.co/0IdC98X0Xl

It's pathetic that the media has made this guy out to be as bad as Jerry Sandusky considering he has been exonerated by Baylor AND the NCAA after years of investigations into the "rapes" on campus. The only credible case was Tevin Elliott and he was swiftly dealt with as soon as allegations were made. Sam U and Oakman were both found not guilty in trial and the other cases were unsubstantiated. Briles kicked off two of our best WRs for marijuana and yet rape is okay? The whole thing was a complete character assassination and the media and the masses had no interest in the truth. They just went along with the narrative that Briles was the biggest, willingest rape enabler in the history of sports. Joe Paterno didn't even get it this bad.
As far as I know, the only conviction that stuck was Tevin. Sam U was originally convicted, but overturned on appeals.
Weak point. Being acquitted is usually all you can hope for after you're falsely accused.morethanhecouldbear said:Being acquitted does not necessarily mean someone was falsely accused.muddybrazos said:And Shawn Oakman was falsely accused and it cost him an NFL career.DancinBear09 said:clcrash29 said:Working off this post.. in the final aftermath, who else was found not guilty or cleared.. was chafin in that group as well? Fuccin moron.
Baylor is no Georgia and never will be. We are a popcorn fart. Georgia is a steroid induced flutterblast fart.muddybrazos said:
Oh look, a coach handled things improperly but its ok bc UGA BOR would never do to him what Baylor did to Briles.
So we should all just give up and go to HEB to buy horns t shirts bc we're just little ole baylor who can never be good.Thee University said:Baylor is no Georgia and never will be. We are a popcorn fart. Georgia is a steroid induced flutterblast fart.muddybrazos said:

I agree that Baylor is different all right. Whether it had been Art or any other coach in America who had experienced something like this at Baylor, we can trust that Baylor would try to save its own reputation no matter how many reputations it needed to destroy to do so. In that regard, Baylor is certainly different.Thee University said:
2,666 days and counting since Art himself left us with a raging fire.
Art brought this all down on himself, Baylor, Waco, you, me and everyone affiliated with the program. He let the lack of true discipline fester and grow and poison us all. His management style (lack of) when bringing in players with known issues tainted all of the W's.
Everybody in America knew Baylor was a different school with different rules and regulations. Evidently nobody told Art.
I blame Ian first.
I blame Art second.
His assistants third.
The BORs did the best with what they were left with to clean up and keep afloat.
Seriously get over yourself and your time at Baylor. Let it go. Stop living in the past.Thee University said:

Also, stop being so nave to think that Baylor is so high and mighty about rules. You act like Briles was running a program where players were running wild doing all sorts of bad things when it was a few players that were accused of some things and only 1 was found to have done it and he was kicked off immediately.
The BOR made this way worse than it should have been. They have caused this problem.
But you defend them because it gave you a few more years to brag about the "best" season by the team you were on (even though that has been surpassed now).

The Journal-Constitution
reported in June that 11 players during Smart's tenure were permitted to remain on the team after women reported violent encounters with them to the school, police or both. The report mentioned that one player, who was charged with recording a sex act with an unconscious woman, stayed on the roster for a full season before transferring. Other transgressions include players' threatening their girlfriends and sexual assault, according to the report.

Hooty Hoo!
Art's running the score up on powerhouses like the Wofford Terriers, NWestern State, Buffalo and other wards of the state did not do him or our program any favors nationally.
His and the players arrogance when talking to the media did nothing to help either.

Art himself characterized some of his boys as "bad dudes".
Records are made to broken. I was fortunate to have played on the first 10 win Baylor team when you only played 11 regular season games. I was and remain proud of that fact and when challenged I will defend that season as one of our greatest - Top 5. I've never had any problems with 11 or 12 or even 13 win seasons. I've been there yelling for the Bears to win 10+ every year.
Somehow I still show up in the Baylor record books and now have been inducted into the Baylor Hall of Fame. I'm not very smart but do know a little bit of football slightly above the normal Baylor grad.
