In The Web: What "They" Are Saying About Baylor in Week 5
After being taken behind the woodshed by No. 3 Texas last Saturday night at McLane Stadium, Baylor (1-3) is once again reeling. When I gave my prediction last week, it came across harsh, but I was just being honest. One of the statements referred to Texas being superior to Baylor in depth and athleticism, which once the opening drive for the Bears began was evident.
Prior to the game against Texas, Aranda told Smoaky on 365 Sports that he felt like this roster could win a Big 12 Championship, which most people naturally scoffed at.
Despite the obvious talent gap between the Longhorns and Baylor, Aranda once again backed up his take on the current roster during his postgame interview, which made its way to social media.
The unfortunate reality is, even those close to Baylor are acknowledging the roster and talent issues that are plaguing the Bears. Former Baylor quarterback and current Color Analyst for the Bears, J.J. Joe, discussed the situation during his weekly segment on 365 Sports.
It’s hard to fathom what’s happening in Waco right now with this football program. The continued downward spiral has led to Baylor being the “Biggest Loser” in the Big 12 this week according to folks at Heartland College Sports.
BIGGEST LOSER: BAYLOR
This was possibly Baylor’s last football game against Texas for decades, and they never got off the bus in front of their home crowd. It was absolutely embarrassing. Baylor is 21 months removed from winning the Big 12 Conference, but it could not look further way from being a conference contender right now. And the thought that they’re a Blake Shapen return away from contending? No chance. There are issues on both sides of the ball with this team right now.
Baylor is also slipping in the Power Rankings again this week finding themselves near the bottom of the barrel in the conference and the state of Texas.
As the Bears get set for their first road game of the season this week against new Big 12 foe UCF (3-1, 0-1) in the Bounce House for their home opener of conference play. The Knights will also be honoring the 10-year anniversary of the team that defeated Baylor in the 2014 Fiesta Bowl.
