Official.

And I had no idea Quinn Buckner was president of Board of Trustees at Indiana.

What Kevin Steele did to Baylor football..Quinn Buckner did to the Dallas Mavericks as head coach.
Meaningless trivia: Quinn Buckner is named for his great-great-grandfather Paul Quinn.

FWIW....updated OP to reflect latest hires. If I'm missing one please let me know.

I took out G5 to just focus on P5.

I think Fran and Elijah were on the BU staff together briefly at the same time with Rhule

Keep getting chances???

This is his second head coaching job.

In his first he was 21-15 in 3 seasons. So not a great success but not a horrible failure either but he wasn't given enough time since it was Miami and they wanted to win immediately.

His stops as D coordinator have been pretty good overall.

So it isn't like he is a retread that has been a failure at multiple schools as a coordinator or head coach.

This is a fair assessment. He was a stellar DC at MTSU and Miss St. Had a very good season at Texas before being fired and returning to Miss St and then did a good enough job at Miami to replace Richt as head coach. Had a winning record at Miami just didn't beat Clemson and win the ACC.

Not like South Carolina hiring Will Muschamp as it's HC the other year.

That one did not make much sense.

College doesn't seem to repeat failed head coaches as much as the NFL does where the same guy gets job after job and fired 3, 4 or 5 times before teams stop giving them another chance.

In college you might get a second or 3rd chance but that is it. And usually that second chance is if you were at a top P5 school and move down to a G5 school. Or occasionally from a top P5 to a lower P5.

Like:

Terry Bowden
Kevin Sumlin
Frank Solich
Etc.

but if you fail miserably at your first your chances are usually over unless you can spend the next decade as a good coordinator and then get a shot at a smaller G5.

Probably got the same kind of looks that Scott Drew did when he made a similar comment in his introductory press conference

I can understand setting a high expectation, but saying Tulane is winning an MNC is out of touch with reality.

This seems a little surprising to make a lateral move from SMU to Duke now that SMU is also ACC

boognish_bear

This explains the move a little better

He's getting to be sole OC. As co-OC he might not be calling plays.

I would also think in addition to being the only OC he is getting a raise from when he was Co-OC.

And maybe more allegiance to Diaz for giving him his start in coaching.

Well if they are the highest ranked G5, or whatever number it is, champ they will have a slot in the play off starting next year. So it isn't as improbable as it was in the 4 team play off era.

He probably has enough money to live the rest of his life in comfort and would rather spend the remaining years with friends and family.
