He's transferring so don't worry about it.

Seems he might be being planned out of the games.
When he does touch the ball, not much seems to happen.
So, Richardson and the Frosh seem to be getting waaay more touches.

It's not a big deal. He's the best running back on the roster and our run game is awful. Just hope he doesn't go to another Big12 team.

And whoever signs them will instantly get a little better and we will instantly get a little worse. Sad to say.

In 2023 recruiting isn't just about getting players to come on board. It's about working to keep the good ones.

He's not the best back on the roster. That's the problem. He'd be really solid behind a good line, but I can remember him breaking exactly one tackle this season. Richardson and Pendergrass are just more effective than he is.

But if you wish you can compare stats. Pendergrass has a lot more touches but lower per touch.
But you may be right, Aranda knows what it takes to win.

There will be plenty of articles from the staff on this site about how he secretly sucks. When he starts lighting it up on a different team, it will never get brought up again. Seen it before

So glad Reece was here last year but you have to be the best player at your position to play. He isn't. Love the kid but he will leave and I don't think there will be near as much demand for him as you think. Joey ha already bragged to people that Reece called him last spring wanting to transfer to TT but he didn't have a scholarship available. Joey may get an opportunity this year but I am guessing Joey was more tickled telling his people that Baylor people wanted to follow him to Tech rather than a real interest in Reece.

He and Baldwin can go. They do not make us better long term. They are good pieces on a great team but not great pieces on a bad team.

I THINK he was in the targeted with one pass in the flat early and he dropped it (at least the announcers said Reese). But the point definitely remains the same- have barely seen him lately

Richardson and pendergrass have been very good without much room to work with…they run crazy hard and pendergrass' vision complements his power extremely well. It hasn't shocked me that they are getting more touches. I also wouldn't be shocked to see Reese put up big numbers again somewhere else like Trch with a line that create a little space for him

Reese has better per-touch production than Pendergrass THIS season. Let's please stop justifying bad choices.

Almost all of Reese's yards (182 of 264) came against Long Island, a bad FCS team, and UCF, which has one of the worst run defenses in FBS. He's averaging less than 3 yards per carry (2.56, to be exact) outside of those two games.

This is a classic case of lies, damn lies and statistics. Richard Reese is a good back when he has a hole to run through. He's useless without one. More carries this year would only have lowered his yards per carry average and the team's.

I believe the odds are high that the issues with Reese have nothing to do with the field.

True. Same with last year. Our line isn't that much weaker and our opponents are largely weaker.

Like I said, this comes down to trusting Dave Aranda to make the best decisions to put the team in a position to win. I don't think he does that.

But let's revisit this Reese topic next season. Our run game is awful. It's not because the best running back isn't good. It's because he's not touching.

I think you and I are aligned in not having faith in Aranda to make the right call…my point was Reese has been successful and I expect him to be productive again with a little room to operate (which he had against LI and UCF and he lit it up). Seems like Richardson and Pendergrass have a more powerful style and in a perfect world the thunder/lightning approach would be ideal…but this year has been far from ideal unfortunately.

Our run game is awful for one reason. Because we have one of the worst O-lines in the Power 5.

Getting Reese more touches would fix nothing.

I won't be at all surprised to see him transfer out and be good behind a better line. But he can't run behind this one. Richardson and Pendergrass are infinitely better suited for "success" behind this line because both are infinitely better at running through and getting yards after contact.

Restating a fallacy doesn't make it true.

Last year's line was miles better than this one.

We averaged a full yard more carry in the run game and allowed 1.7 sacks per game, compared to 3.1 this season.

Last year's line was an average to above-average unit. This year's line is historically awful. It's comparable to the 2017 O-line and any Steele or Morriss put on the field.

Let's agree to disagree. I don't have any confidence in Aranda. This is 100% about Aranda and it's totally fine f we don't see eye to eye.
In the end I assume we both want the same thing. More wins.

I haven't seen anyone say Richard Reese sucks. He just can't run behind a deficient offensive line. That's not his fault. That's the fault of the line and the coaching staff that thought it was good enough to compete in the Big 12 this season.

He's the best RB at Baylor and it's not close at all. He has every reason to leave.
