I'll sum up the last 6 weeks on this football board for you - no need to look back and read.

-Aranda isn't getting fired this year, we cannot afford the buyout
-Aranda may get fired this year.
-No one actually knows what the buyout is
-We suck
-NIL is a major problem (even though it's not a problem for numerous small market P5 teams like KSU, Utah and Kansas, all of whom have better records than us)
-Aranda needs to get fired for xyz reasons. My favorite reason is that the problem is his personality. He was a stoic introverted genius in 2021, mind you. In 2023, he is the calmest idiot on FBS sidelines.
-Person over player wasn't a problem in 2021 when we finished 12-2 and won the Sugar Bowl. However, in 2023, person over player is why we suck.
-Mack is an idiot and needs to get fired.
-Some idiots think we are better off without Kim Mulkey

That pretty much sums up the past 6 weeks.

I have a feeling that when and if Mack fires CDA, it will be much longer than on a Sunday after the last game. He'll want several days or weeks to go by, just to make people think he's some genius who knows more than everyone else.

Of course, that strategy will blow up in his face when the good coaches are all gone.

It's probably a date in December when the buyout drops so this board will go crazy on the 26th.

I guarantee he will not wait weeks. The transfer portal opens Dec. 4, and if we don't have a coach in place by then, we will be royally screwed. Mack knows that. Everyone knows that.

The next coach will have to go heavy on transfers to build his first roster. There's no way we don't have someone named by the time the portal opens.

I'm talking 2023. If Mack pulls the trigger (and I don't see how he can afford not to at this point), it will happen quickly. We have to have our next head coach and coordinators in place by the time the portal opens.

It should have been so quickly it would have been two weeks ago when most others did. Rhoades is already pretty late if he was going to make a change this season with signing day a couple of weeks away etc. It would be another sign that perhaps the AD isn't all that great and shouldn't have been allowed to tinker with football anymore in the first place. I hope not only is NIL getting fixed but this micromanaging of who the football coach can recruit has been fixed, that will be critical to the future going forward whether Aranda returns or not.

All that really matters is the numerous posts of two years of losing (9-16 record in years 3 and 4). A sub .500 overall coaching record and fielding a team that is not competitive against average D1 programs with no real and foreseeable reason to have any hope for a turnaround. And we are not just losing, we are getting blown out by average teams.

This is the reason why he must be fired. The rest of that is not really relevant.... perhaps a bit of venting but not relevant.

For the buyout amount to drop after a certain date .

And for those that think we don't have the money..we've fired only one coach in the past 15 years..and he got a one time $15 million parting gift. .so we don't have any dead money payments out there still due

Carolina paid us for Rhule leaving..hell Tech gave us something for Joey..so money isn't an issue.

We need a splash hire, someone players are familiar with. No more experiments with unknowns. A coach that is handed the keys and not a training manual. Does such a person exist that passes the BU smell test? HC that can quickly right the ship and get us back to where we left off around 2015 with an upward trajectory every season and not a roller coaster ride from year to year.

I'm making an educated guess here, but I expect Aranda to resign on 11/26 or 11/27. It would be best case scenario for all parties involved.

If I was for all practical purposes semi-retired and had no accountability, no performance reviews, no expectations other than to take polite and sometimes veiled negative questions 35 times a year and I was getting paid nearly $4 million a year to do this there is no freaking way I'd retire.

So Rhoades will have a new guy in within a week? Rhoades has waited too long already if he was going to make a move this year.
