Good luck to Shapen at his future school, but I'm excited to see what Robertson can do. We may well downgrade at that position if Sawyer flops, but I think the upside is higher with a guy who can run a little.

The fact that Blake doesn't ever get mentioned on these lists likely doesn't bode well for his chances of landing with a contender.

I think it's more likely that with Grimes gone, he knows he is going to have to actually compete for his starting job. I don't blame him frankly. I've been in jobs where a senior executive who brought me in has left and it's pretty clear that the new guy has his own ideas / vision that may not be a good fit. Sometimes it's about not having to deal with change on someone else's terms.

I don't think Blake ever personally claimed to be a star. There is one poster on here who got very upset when I disagreed with his claim that he would be a Heisman candidate on the right team

We can agree to disagree on that claim. Shapen is a nice serviceable QB but has a hard time connecting on the deep ball and holds the ball way too long, often taking a sack because he missed a wide open check down option.

He fell victim to a lot of drops and terrible line play, but if you put him under Lincoln Riley and gave him SC talent to play with, he is much more Matt Barkley than Caleb Williams.

That's a ridiculous take. A guy with a 45 QBR would be a Heisman candidate? He's not even a starter on a Power 5 squad except here with Grimes

Not in Gabriel's case. The guy's too small and inconsistent to play in the NFL. He can get one last payday before he goes and plays in the XFL or joins the workforce.

The schools have been treating college football like a business for decades. It shouldn't surprise or offend anyone that the players are taking advantage of their opportunity to do the same.

So college football teams used to brag about getting players into the NFL. Is the new flex going to be that "we get players developed so they are ready for bigger NIL programs"? Will Baylor and others become the minor league for the SEC/B1G? If so, maybe we should work on that pitch for high school recruits - we can't give you big NIL money, but we can get you enough exposure so you can transfer to a school with big NIL money.

I've been a proponent of college players getting paid for a while now, but the way this all went down is just absurd. This is what happens when kick the can down the road and don't come up with a real solution. If the NCAA had treated the players better 20 years ago and given them some sort of financial compensation, we would at least have reasonable rules in place by now. But since this all happened by court order, we don't have any rules in place and the NCAA has no power to even put rules in place at this point.
