I don't put much credibility in our previous offensive staff's ability to evaluate talent. That goes for both the roster they had on campus, and recruiting. I do not believe Novosad is nearly as good as our fan base or coaches thought he was.

Is he headed for the portal?

No wad.

The timing on Novasad was the problem and it was different than the average teenager change of opinion. Plus teenagers are not excused from having integrity. Most of the time there is a price to pay in life when you operate without it.

Not that any of it matters now. But I don't recall him even doing a customary "thank you to Baylor and the staff for his recruitment etc on social media". He just appeared on the Oregon athletic department Twitter in one of those photo shopped graphics of him in an Oregon uni announcing he was committed on signing day morning. If my memory is correct he and his family appear to be quite dou***y to me.

There is no guarantee that he would even be the starter had he stayed committed, so it's no longer a huge deal.

Novosad was WAY overhyped out of Dripping. He may not have earned the starting role here either.
No need to dig this up like you want revenge on the kid.

He will fail in football and in life. The most money he will ever see in his ****ty little life is that dirty Nike blood money that he sold his soul for at the 11th hour. His duplicity and underhanded, self serving nature will send him down a path of ruin and shame. He will spend the next few years picking splinters out of his backside and then disappear into mediocrity in the working world.

I doubt it. He comes from a good family and is a very good quarterback.

Yeah, I get the sour grapes. it sucks the way it went down. But in the same position, I bet a lot of us might have gone the same route as he did. And if he's staying despite further competition, it seems like it shows some character. it's quite possible that Oregon was always at the top of his wish list before they stole his commit from Baylor.

And if he had a crystal ball showing what Baylor's 2023 OL would look like, he probably made the right choice, unfortunately.

That's harsh. He may start there. Who knows? Baylor isn't the only path to success AND people make decisions that's best for them all the time that doesn't have "fallout".

Well, nobody wants that, and I doubt he allows that to happen to himself.

I only wish him the best because deep down inside, we're all a part of God.

I could honestly care less what decision Novosad made. And I honestly wish the best for the kid. I wish him no harm. I just think he was overhyped.

I think his case is one of the reasons NIL will change as the people paying NIL will no longer want to give money to unproven HS kids that never do a thing and the money is wasted.

Just more evidence that Novosad is nothing what our fanbase keeps trying to build him up to be. Even Oregon's coaching staff knows he's a bust, which is why they took Dante Moore back (which is what you're alluding to).
I don't think anyone ever claimed Novosad to be the end all be all of our program's future. Rather, he was the prime example of the abject failure of this current regime to recruit. Novosad himself isn't that big of a deal, but Novosad flipping at the last minute last year highlighted the biggest issue facing our program: this staff's inability to recruit the kinds of talent we need to compete at the level we want to compete at.

I agree. The "Novasad flip" was a red flag.

A bit short. yea.

But he did an exceptional job.

Good for him but grabbing the NIL money could have steered him to.a place that doesn't allow him a startling role and then he will not have made his case for the NFL and a career of bigger money.

He was pretty good at Dripping Springs. Not carrying a team good but pretty good.

This thread started as a grass is greener but really it's greener for BU too. Novosad may very well start at a D1 next year or so but BU is not worse off for him opting away.

He's good but was a little overrated in Hs and Oregon has sniffed that out. Let it go.

Maybe that would be the case if the transfer portal doesn't exist. He got him a bag..did not lose any eligibility because he didn't see the field. Now he can transfer to another team in need of a QB and potentially start. He knew he wasn't going to start this year with Bo Nix on the roster but better to get paid 2x 3x as a freshman than get paid pennies on the dollar to be back up to Shapen here at Baylor.

This. It's not an ideal start, but he could still transfer and end up with both a great college career and much more NIL money than he would have received by coming to Baylor first.

It's 1000% Oregon. Not sure why any HS QB would commit to the Ducks. They're firmly in the buy a new QB every year strategy

Knight is pulling out all the stops to try to see Oregon win a national title before he passes.

As to Novasad, his career has ended in high school if he doesn't use the portal.

Unless his draft projection is that low (I haven't checked to know where he is projected) that doesn't seem like a good move.

If his stock is low then it is a good move as it could improve his round and his pay.
