Michigan has a 10 Million dollar QB in Underwood coming in.

It's 1000% Oregon. Not sure why any HS QB would commit to the Ducks. They're firmly in the buy a new QB every year strategy

It wasn't just that Novosad decomitted, it was the way he did it. He really screwed us over at the final bell after we'd literally met all his demands for his entire recruitment.
I don't ever wish bad will on any of our prospective recruits, whether they decommit or not. But in Novosad's case it does feel like this bit of karma is deserved.

It obviously hurt us. His defection meant that Nate Bennett was our only QB in that class, and we had to reach again for depth purposes this cycle for Edward Griffin, and neither of those guys had a single power conference offer other than ours. Doesn't mean they can't be good, but it sure doesn't help the odds.PartyBear said:
Baylor is just fine. He knee capped himself.

We can't afford to simply poach a readymade QB1 out of the portal every year like big programs do. I love that Sawyer is balling out, but we can't expect that to be the norm at the level we're recruiting on. We still have to recruit frosh and develop too, and that put a giant hole in our development progression that we're just going to have to plug with transfer guys.

I don't know if he is in trouble as he is probably sitting on a pile of cash. But if his goal was to play in the NFL, then he may be in that sense. You have to play meaningful minutes to get on teams radar and Oregon keeps recruiting over him.

Ordinarily on these issues, I'm a keep the door open type. But the way it all went down, I think Aranda would be a fool to be open to being taken again by that family. I think it would be wise for Baylor just to have burned that bridge and write it off as lesson learned and I suspect they have.

Novosad is not as hyper competitive as some of you want to make him out to be. He's perfectly happy to sit while going to school at Oregon. He enjoys college more than football. Ask some of his relatives.
With BYU in the Big 12 now, we have to watch our use of the word "soak."parch said:
Not only is Ewers/whatever big QB transfer going to be ahead of Novosad next year, but so will Dante Moore, who is their perpetual QB2. Novosad could potentially be soaking in Spav's system right now, operate as the next man up next season, and have an actual opportunity to compete for QB1 the next summer with two full years to make a mark at a power program.
Instead he's going to probably stick out another season at Oregon and waste it before entering the portal with zero significant snaps under his belt as he vies against guys with real experience.
From an actual football perspective, Novosad's decision kneecapped both himself and Baylor.

This guy probably does care to play. He swapped for the money and thats cool, but a competitive guy does stay around as the coaches shop for a new starter every year. Especially when you were suppose to be next in line. 2 season and he has thrown 11 passes. So that tells me he must be dog **** in practice

I'd argue that somebody that really wants to be a starter might also enter the portal and go start somewhere. Just throwing this out there, he probably makes more money as a backup at Oregon than as a starter at a G5 institution.
That's why I don't always buy that tired, "he's transferring because he doesn't want to compete" cliche. Sometimes you transfer because there's genuinely less of a chance of riding the bench at the new place

Did you not see how our QB room was decimated by this? Or how Aranda's authority was weakened with the players? He literally allowed a high school kid to tell him how to run his roster and still ditched us even after Aranda caved in to every one of his requests.
Fortunately, Baylor has recovered since then and so has Aranda's credibility, but things were bleak for a few years.
