Dear David and Craig and Paul!

I've been watching pre-super bowl commentary and I was astonished to see hosts speaking to the game as if it was a gambling arena. They took time out to predict who would score the first TD in the game.

To what point do we separate sports from gambling?....to the point where it metasizes into an utter disrespect for TRUE reporters/commentors like yourselves.

Considering the great job you do, and the magnitude you have with diehard sports enthusiasts, I would beg you to spend some time talking about this issue.

Sad, but gambling is just a natural result of pro sports. And it's just the beginning. Take Fertitta, he's going to bring everything Vegas to UH, and college sports in general. And I do think it'll be "everything" Vegas.

Gambling brings in a lot of money to sportsbooks in return for relatively little investment as they don't put on the games. The number of similar situations in a capitalistic environment are very few and far In between.

"Gambling infiltrating the sport"?

That ship sailed long ago.

Some like the predictions for the excitement, but I get how it can overshadow genuine sports talk. It's a balance thing. Would be cool if they discussed how this affects everyone.

I think there's a fine line between acknowledging the betting aspect of sports and letting it overshadow everything else. It's important for commentators to strike a balance and not lose sight of what truly matters to fans like us. True reporters and commentators have a platform and responsibility to steer the conversation back to the game itself. They have the power to influence how sports are perceived and discussed. I think infiltrating is the wrong word. That implies an undesired presence. The truth is gambling was invited into the sport because the leaders of the sport have sold their soul for every revenue dollar available. I wish they would at least raise the legal age to 21 in all states. Some of the states with legal gambling allow it at 18.

It's well documented how men's prefrontal cortex is still developing until at least their mid 20s.

That said, I don't bet. Not ever. Don't worry about other people betting. There is nothing new under the sun. There are now TV commercials, but there has never been a collegiate game that wasn't gambled on.

No, it's their job to get more listeners, and more eyeballs on the broadcast. That's their only job. So that advertising can be sold at a higher premium. I bet you think that journalists job. Is to report the news.

I'd wager if you asked most Texans they would support legalized gambling but they will never approve in election. Same with the inability to sell cars or liquor on Sunday. Most would gladly shop for those two products but the lobbies are too strong to overcome voter apathy.
