He was previously Leach's OL coach at MSU and I believe at WSU as well.

So we are never going to run the ball now... Are we?

Did we just want to be sure we win the first game of the year with some insider information?

Well, he certainly knows how to execute a spread scheme.

We could do a lot worse than having Mike Leach's OL coach. At least we should be able to pass block and protect the QB.

We struggled in pass pro last year and this dude had very successful stints under Leach guiding OL's that didn't give up a lot of sacks in a pass happy scheme. Not sure we could do better given the circumstances.

Looking at this his resume looks pretty good.

Am I right in remembering that Spav runs a more run heavy version of the spread than the air raid?

And our DL coach just left for the Baltimore Ravens.

Are you serious? This is getting comical and sad at the same time

It might just be anecdotal… But seems like there have been more coaches moving from college to the NFL than the past years.

Wondering if all of these changes in college football are making it less desirable.

That is why BC's coach left. He was done with NIL and spending all his time recruiting his existing roster. Took the Packers DC job to focus on X's and O's

Didn't Chip Kelly leave for the same reason?

So the moral of the story is that we apparently had assembled the Super Staff of all Super Staffs and now everyone wants them? Who knew!!!!! Is Powledge next?

Maybe but he was also on thin ice. A top OC job opened and he took it. Without 9 wins he was probably getting the axe at UCLA. Not like he needs the money as much anymore either.

I would have no doubt. I never professionally coached, but I did spend a lot of time coaching competitive girls softball for almost 20 years. I can say from experience you never had much of a comfort zone as to who would be on the team for the next season. Having to re-recruit your players on a constant basis allows you no room for doing much of anything else. I can certainly see a lot of coaches, good coaches, even great ones decide it is time to retire or move into something way more stable.

Miller is another assistant with head coaching experience -- albeit at a much lower level. I remember him when he was here at McMurry. He was on Mumme's staff as OL coach and later OC and succeeded him for one year as head coach before moving onward and upward.

I'm not a big Air Raid guy, but Miller has been a successful coach across multiple positions and levels of college football.

I actually like this hire a bit more than the other guy. Seems to be a better fit for the scheme

I'm wondering why this wasn't our original OL hire in December.

And honestly did not have the best talent on the o-line. He clearly knows how to turn average linemen into better linemen for pass protecting and even in the run game as well.

Pretty much.

I skimmed an Interview that he did and he said missed coaching and wasn't enjoying the HC role as much as he used to.
