Thanks for posting this!

The hell with color unity across all sports. Football needs the GOLD gold, not yellow. If people actually cared that all sports had the same color scheme, I'd advocate for using Vegas gold everywhere. Yellow is tacky and weak. Gold is regal and inspiring. Pretty basic stuff.

I find it comical that when all sports had their own shade of green and gold, and used other colors as well, there was not a debate.

Now when the university attempts to make each sport have one shade of green and gold all hell breaks loose.

Incidentally I actually have a book on my book shelf I pulled the other day. I had not perused it in nearly 30 years. It is a brief history of Baylor by Baylor historian, Eugene Baker. The book came out around 95-96. Well before the administration started the color controversy. It is a very short book.

This is the only documented history on our colors I have seen. Back when we were picking colors, the committee in charge of was actually presented the idea of green and yellow, however they opted go with gold instead of yellow. For you original intent types this essentially says yellow was explicitly rejected as a color back in the 1890s and gold was expressly chosen over yellow.

In 2019 the branding and marketing people said they did the new colors based on history. They didn't do a good job researching history apparently either.

Is that book "To Light the Ways of Time"? I may have a copy somewhere.

This one is called "Here Come the Bears". I pulled it off my shelf just to see if there was something about this after I saw Rev's posts here. To be honest it may be a brief history of Baylor athletics not the university. I did not re peruse the book. I looked at it again for the first time since the mid 90s just to see if there was something about the colors in it. The book cover is dark green and of course the writing in the cover is in "gold".

For most of Baylor's football history, both colors of gold have been used on a regular basis - most ot the time at the same time.

Oddly enough, this year we celebrate 50 years since the Miracle on the Brazos in which the team actually used no yellow gold at all in the uniforms that season.

Results over Uniforms.

When displayed like this, these uniforms look really good, top to bottom.
So, Baylor has announced they'll be wearing the new anthracite uniforms for the Air Force game and the BYU game will be a Gold Out so they'll be rolling with all gold for the Cougars.
