Not many points yet, but I really like what I am seeing from Robertson.

QB looks good. Receivers not so much.

Anyone who actually believes Finn is hurt needs their head examined.

Dequan should never see the field again. This should be Sawyer's team if Baylor has any hopes at 5 wins.

I don't think we have a Quarterback Controversy.

Pretty sure the Finn Era is over at BU

Sawyer 18/24 for 248 yards. I know it's AF but this is the best performance we have seen in a while.

We don't need someone to play like Peyton Manning, just don't throw any stupid passes into double coverage.

I find it odd that you have not even seen DF on the sideline with a headset on still engage in the game in some way. I feel like that's a pretty a common thing for injured QBs.

They showed him on the sideline in a sling.

Yes I saw that, but why no headset on. That was the odd part to me. It's a common place for starting QBs that are injured to have that headset on and do what he can to help his team win from the sideline.

He's not use to winning, so had nothing to offer....

Dave has a QB talent assessment deficit. If he wanted Finn, chances are Robertson was always the better option.

Say what you will about the fact that Air Force can't throw the ball, but the defense looked incredible against a very tricky triple option team.

It's pretty clear that Finn got the starting nod because he got the big bag. Robertson has demonstrated greater command over the offense.

Because he doesn't know the offense. What use would he be on the headset

I don't recall Cam Rising having headset on in 2nd half of our game.

I think now that the couches can speak directly to the QB in helmet, they don't need an additional person on coms

Sawyer after the game

The question is whether Aranda will make the correct decision on who to start once Finn is healthy enough to play. And we all know who the better quarterback is. Question is whether Dave has the fortitude to relegate Finn to 2nd string once he's ready to play.

Any chance that the QB competition might have spurred Sawyer on? Maybe it was a delayed reaction or related to Finn's injury but Sawyer finally seems to be the QB we need and want. Hopefully Finn will overcome his issues stick around through the end of the season: we had a healthy and competent backup. We've had far too many QB injuries over the past few years for me to be comfortable with only one experienced QB.

Bag O' money dropped early. He's fine watching from the sidelines.

He looked good and deserves the opportunity to see what he can do as the starter. Highly rated coming out of high school.

Celebrate the win.
Sawyer is Sawyer. Show me 200 yards next week.

I'm convinced Aranda doesn't use sports metrics and competition to choose starters anyway. Never has.

I hope Finn heals, I'm never wishing an injury on anyone.

I'll root for whoever is in the lid. But let's hold the overreaction and Heisman talk for the first conference win.

Who has said anything about a Heisman? I certainly haven't seen any of it. But I didn't spend much time in the game thread yesterday. I was too busy yelling myself hoarse while watching my Bears. Besides, the game threads tend to be gloomy with half the posts seemingly coming from Cow or Frog trolls.

It was hot as huevos last night. But that 2nd half was pure gold. Really all sides it was a very good 2nd half.

And if it it was coaching making adjustments, well done. The boys got it together. Hopefully that carries to next week.

It's certainly possible. The only thing I will say is last night looked a whole lot like Robertson's last start of the 2023 season.

That's two really good, really efficient outings in a row for him. I'd say three, but he only got one possession against Tarleton State.

At this point, Robertson has done everything he could possibly be expected to do to get an extended run with the starting quarterback job. This should be his offense now ... and remain his unless or until he does something to lose his grip on it.

Since the start of the WVU game last year, Sawyer is 38 of 48 with 530 yards and two touchdowns to zero interceptions.

That's a 185.7 passer rating with a pretty modest TD total. And he's also rushed for a score.

At this point, you've got to hand him the reins and let him play. He's earned that opportunity with his play on the field.
Killing Floor

Still very likely even if there was a competition that we had to assure Finn the opportunity to get him to sign.

Maybe one is better than the other, I'm not at practice, I don't know. But Sawyer looked good 2nd half.

I'm fine with giving a senior transfer with a strong track record the first look. But Finn has already gotten that. It's time to do what's best for the offense and team from here on out. And we're a better team with Robertson at quarterback.

If that changes at some point down the road, we can revisit the discussion. But this has to be a meritocracy in the meantime. The stakes are too high for both our staff and our program.

Let's win the next two. Colorado and BYU shouldn't scare anyone. Play well in those and we can be 4-1 in two weeks.

We need to start faster than we have for most of the past two-plus years under Aranda. But if we can get the slow starts fixed, this team could actually be pretty decent by season's end.

First taste of optimism I have had since about 4 games into the 2022 season.
