Can confirm, as @PeteThamel reported, that Air Force has emerged as a target for the American Athletic Conference to add. The idea of having all three service academies in the same league is quite appealing, source tells @NBCSports.

This is a no-brainer. Would be a really good move for both the AAC and Air Force.gobears20 said:Can confirm, as @PeteThamel reported, that Air Force has emerged as a target for the American Athletic Conference to add. In fairness to the AAC, it has done the best it can with the hand it was dealt. That league has always been well-run. Unfortunately, it's a G5 league, and there's nothing it could have ever done to change that.BearlyBeloved said:
It reminds me of the statement from the White Star Line:
"The Titanic is a pioneering ship, built with grit and hard work, with powerful engines and prestigious passengers. Both upon the seas and beneath them, its reputation is well-deserved and will never be forgotten."

But the AAC is about to lose Tulane and Memphis to the PAC, which will take it down yet another notch after losing one top brand after another the past three years.
Bruce Feldman reported on Saturday that the new PAC would be interested in those two. And a couple of others have reported on the possibility.Karab said:bear2be2 said:This is a no-brainer. Any sources on Tulane and Memphis? Or is this just Internet speculation?

It was simply a victim of realignment. Unlike the Big East and the PAC, it didn't make any giant blunders to expedite its downfall. It just had the deck stack against it from the start.
They didn't have any choice. They had to backfill with the best they could get after losing what they lost. And UAB and UTSA both have potential. I would agree that Rice doesn't add much.TechDawgMc said:bear2be2 said:In fairness to the AAC, it has done the best it can with the hand it was dealt. That league has always been well-run. They weren't ever going to be above G5 but they made a highly dubious round of adds the last timegoing exclusively for cities and ignoring football talent. Adding Rice, UAB, UTSA etc is not the path to competitiveness
