Do you notice how Thee only uses personal attacks and foul language? Thee all that does it make people respect you less. We disagree about how the scandal was handled. We have a different opinion. You can show self-respect and respect for others in this situation though by not resorting to crude responses.
I disagree with those who want to bring Briles back. Not because I think he was at fault, I just don't think the relationship between him and Baylor can be repaired. I don't make crass statements towards them though. I would love for Baylor to openly apologize and make steps to repair his reputation.

Until.....................................................................1985 and 1986 out performed the '79 and '80 teams. I quit measuring our team against others after Cody Carlson/Tom Muecke and Ray Berry/Robert Watters eclipsed my teams. I admitted it in 1986 and never thought about it again.
I also pointed out that the 1980 team needed no help in securing the conference championship. We won it outright without having to depend on another team's help.
The 1980 team was undefeated in SWC play. Art could not do that. Instead he got crushed by OSU and WV. That was a 7-6 WV team that beat our tails 41-27.
Jealous? No way. Saddened because in 2013 I was still 100% on board and even 2014 I was still yelling my @$$ off for the Bears to go undefeated. Just like I did every year. Even this year.
Art went 65-37. That's .637. That's good enough for a tie for 4th in the Baylor coaching successes.

This combined with age and all of the modern changes to college football (transfer portal, NIL, conference realignment, CFP changes, etc.). Briles can never again be an effective HC at the collegiate level. Not because of the scandal or his reputation or any of those extracurricular factors. The truth is that once you are out of D1 football for more than a season, your career is pretty much as good as over.
Where are Les Miles and Charlie Weis?
Possibly Urban Meyer or Nick Saban could be the exception here, but I doubt it.
Part of the reason these guys get such big buyouts is to take them off the market if it doesn't workout. Believe me, the A&M AD would die if Jimbo ended up at TCU and started kicking ass.
Sadly, Briles will never be an effective coach at a D1 college football program ever again.
Fascinating how people who never again want to hear the name Art Briles have quite evidently spoken personally with him about his familiarity or lack of same with the "modern changes" to college football. Foul language? In today's world? 2024? I am tame by today's standards. You say I am crude? Limp wrists? Enemas? Circle jerks? All facts of life and since it did not get blanked out by the board administrators I assume it is not near as crude as you suddenly want it to be.
I never came onto a sports bulletin board looking to earn respect. I simply used my 4 years of Baylor football and 4 years of limited professional football experiences, knowledge and my "insider" Baylor pipelines to take an unpopular, opposite stance that is rooted in FACTS. Most of you guys have no clue about football reality and I have been proven correct over the years no matter how delusional some of you hero worshippers are and intent on re-writing history.
I would like Art and his staff to apologize to Baylor for the damage they did. None of this would have happened had discipline, tighter internal controls and adherence to Baylor traditions and old Baylor mores been reviewed each year with Art & his staff. That was the job of the President and the AD and they were too drunk on 9, 10 and 11 win seasons to get their manicured nails dirty.
Whether he is actually familiar or is not is completely irrelevant, and we all know that.canoso said:Fascinating how people who never again want to hear the name Art Briles have quite evidently spoken personally with him about his familiarity or lack of same with the "modern changes" to college football.
