If Dave gets to 6 and is retained, they need to bring in a ton of high level safeties and now even cb's. Just terrible awareness and feel for the game. Stiff, no fluidity in movement. Need complete overhaul
My concern is that he gets just enough wins to be retained and we have to suffer through another year of inconsistent mediocrity.

I'm not in support of it but since I see they're clearly going that way mine as well buy him a competent secondary

Listen..Mack never said 6-6 he returns..

But 7-5 and definitely 8-4 he returns because that's a pretty good streak with momentum at end of year.

We got the best of OSU today....that said, the rest of these games should be winnable. I think Aranda saved his job today. Is it possible we don't bowling now?

We know Sawyer Robertson is one tough SOB with a ton of skills. We know that Dawson Pendergrass is one band son of a gun, and tough as nails. We know the Aranda is an extremely poor judge of who his best players are.

Glad we won this game, but hope it doesn't mean that we end up keeping a really poor coach. He is simply not Big 12 quality. This is a league that we can win repeatedly with the right coach.

Prepare yourself. Unless he pulls a Dave and somehow loses to Houston/Ku and ends up at 5. I think he'll probably get 6 and they'll continue to roll with him.

Dave has this team BELIEVING.

Y'all need to believe as well.

It really sounds like a lot of people here were rooting for us to lose.

do you ever post stuff that isn't just you trashing people? Good grief you're a hateful person. Haven't seen a single individual that was rooting for us to lose.

Anyone who thinks that Dave is the right man for the job moving forward is allowed to voice their support for him, but lose the narcissistic/vitriolic attitude. Dang

Celebrate this win and the possibility we can still go 8-4

That may be where we are at the moment, but that's not where we will stay. I believe Aranda will get this team turned around and apparently the Mack and the other decision makers do as well. They were a couple years late to adapt to the NIL/Portal paradigm shift and it cost them coming out of the Big 12 Championship/Sugar Bowl year. That wasn't all on Aranda. If we get to a bowl (be competitive in the rest of the games), win the bowl, keep a solid recruiting class he will deserve another year.

They should have had him running the ball against Colorado, especially in the fourth quarter and OT.

I think "deserve" is a really strange choice of words there.
I think seven wins this year would get me back on board with Dave, but it's difficult to say what he deserves or doesn't deserve. Six or seven wins in this conference is not an earth shattering accomplishment, I hope we can agree on that

It's not earth shattering, but it's worthy of keeping your job as a coach. And I would say that about any program/coach in our league.

Winning records are good. Losing records are bad.

Does anyone know if ESPN replays any of their streaming games on their TV channels later in the week?

I like to keep wins on DVR to go back and watch during the long off season drought.

Sawyer has been good. I said it in a different thread, but I would put him above Russell and Nick and below Petty on a talent scale.

Not sure about putting him above Seth yet. Seth was a freak athlete. Such a shame he had the bad injuries.

But I think Sawyer is easily our best QB we've had in almost 10 years.

That's my concern too.

Part of me thinks if he wins at least 6, he should come back because its clear win total improvement over last year and he should get a chance to improve on that in 2025.

Now, my bar goes up for 2025. Not sure if its 8 or 9 wins but if he does not win at least 8, I would fire him if there is a coaching upgrade available on the market.

The other part of me thinks keeping him and the staff is just delaying the inevitable - mediocrity. The second half of our schedule contains mostly ****ty teams, so we may confuse beating ****ting teams with 'improving'.

Only a bunch of wins over the rest of this season and the next will change my mind.

Of course it is possible but it seems more likely that we will get the bowl game. We have two wins in a row and had some good moments in each game. We also had plenty of terrible, dumb mistakes that easily could have cost the game. If the team can build on the momentum then we could win out. I don't believe that will happen but each win builds confidence in a brighter future.

Now, if we do go bowling and end the season with 8-5 or 9-4 then not only does Aranda save his job but he increases expectations for next year. With the recruiting successes we have had, we should expect better. Ideally, we will go bowling almost every year and regularly contend for a conference title and a playoff berth. That's where we were a decade ago and naturally that's where fans want us to be. Whether that's with Aranda or his successor, who knows?

He was a good athlete, but he was also handed the keys to a finally tuned Corvette. He was able to sit behind petty and get a lot of experience in mop up duty and was very familiar with the offense by the time he was called to be a starter. Robertson was handed the keys to a Chevy Malibu with a damaged title

I'd have to put him toward the top of that list for being the most fun we've had in a while for sure. When he takes off on a run, he could break it at any time

In past years, the were still available on the ESPN app for a time. One thing I really like about Sling is it has a built in DVR. One of these days I will go back and watch last week's game over Tech. I will probably do the same with today's game. Hopefully, someone will post these games on YouTube where they will be available for anyone to watch whenever they want. Lots to games going back to 2010 are available, most of good quality, and some older games.

Also Aranda is getting paid $4,540,885 this year. IMO, he is not earning it, but he also didn't deserve the $3,021,003 from 2023 or $3,813,832 in 2022 after screwing up the NIL so badly, coming off 5th in the nation. He should have been fired either of the past two years.

He is simply a poor judge of the talent that we actually have now. Finn is a perfect example. Should have found that out before the season started.

I love all of those players.

I'm not going to compare them to each other, though. There are too many variables at play i.e. personnel, offensive philosophies and the conference is totally different.

Agree. If we continue to improve, and win, and find ways to win instead of lose in close games like this one, he should stay.

Some head scratching defensive plays today, but Okie State is a desperate team and I was a little nervous playing them because they are still talented and desperate. We found a way to gut it out and win. That was a huge positive for me today and how I see this staff and team.
