On homecoming no less.

Really hoping the atmosphere is electric this Saturday night.

Houston's crowd was way worse. And they were also celebrating homecoming.

True. Maybe it's just expected there.

Another good win yesterday. I want to believe that they have figured it out but more games are needed. These last 4 could go either way.
I am with you on that.

And of course 7 in a row - that ain't happening - 2 out of these next 4 is a realistic possibility- my uneducated worthless prediction is that the KU game will determine with team (KU or BU) goes 6-6 and limps into a bowl game.
Limps? A team that went from 3 wins to 6 or 7 is not limping. Going from 9 to 6, I agree.

I agree call him out for his failures, but when he does well he needs to get the credit. It for no other reason the next coach will be watching. A 3 or 4 game win total increase is a positive.
All 6-6 teams limp into a bowl game

You have some expectations issues for being a fan at a place like BU. It is a process.

You improve 3 wins a year, you had a good year. BU is not a place you can stay at 8 wins, unless you are taking sobe serious recruiting chances which BU won't do again. It is cyclical.
Aranda's wins have gone 12-6-3. We are at 4. He gets 6 and a Bowl that is on schedule building toward a 10 win expectation next year.

I do not get these fans that think Baylor is 8-12 win every year school. BU is a once in 4 year compete for title place. You guys do realize the almighty Briles wins were 4-4-7-10 for a total of 25 wins. Aranda has 23 wins and a Conf title. Not much difference. It took Briles 5 years to get rolling with a Heisman winner. Maybe Aranda is being held to a different standard.

You are overlooking trajectory. Briles was on an upward trajectory in his time at Baylor, even in the lean years. Aranda has been on a downward trajectory. This very important fact was left out.
Aranda was also dealing with the Program Blown Up and the 2nd Coach bolting. It was just not 10 years of being bad. Since 2015 to 2019 BU football was a rollarcoaster. He just didn't inherit a normal situation. He has already won 1 more than last year. Can we a little positive? I know that is not the Baylor way, but after the last 4 years of **** football, the economy in the tank and CFB turning into talk to my pimp and I may play for you if you pay enough maybe a little positive vibes will help.

Don't get me wrong, not with this crew. I expect to hear every negative that has happened, they don't like his smile... And be called stupid to boot. THAT is the Baylor way...

I'll be positive when it's called for. Ie the last 2 games is positive. But I also have to be realistic. Trajectory does matter. Briles never went on a 3 year slide. Aranda has. Now Aranda may turn it around, but time will tell. And yes, I'm probably never going to be a big Aranda fan. I sorta prefer coaches that have a bit more emotion. That being said, any flavor can win. And winning is the most important thing, not whether or not I like the temperament of the coach.

That is a point. I use five year recruiting cycles. No two tenures are the same. Briles didn't go on a three year slide. Neither has Aranda, yet. He already won more than last year. Briles also didn't win a Conf championship. So there are a lot of info.

Is the expectation that we will have 2021 every year or it is a slide?

You mean Briles did not win a conference championship GAME. He won two titles: 2013 & 2014. Those teams will be honored this weekend. The Big 12 didn't have title games in those years and added it after the 2014 fiasco when our commissioner tried to get two teams into the ESPN Blueblood Invitational (comically misnamed playoffs). He didn't realize that the committee was never going to do that for anyone but the SEC.

I am talking the first five years, my argument is NOT about Briles, we know he was successful. My point is on Aranda. At the same point in time 5 years, Aranda and Briles are pretty even. Briles didn't go up and down, but he didn't win a NYD Bowl and B12 Championship. My point is give Aranda some time if he turns the corner this year. The last few games and how hard the team played early on give me optimism.

I don't care what Briles did he was great and I loved his teams (Bennett's D???), he is history, but he keeps being thrown up as the benchmark. If Aranda gets to 7 wins and a Bowl, hopefully he turned the corner. Really trying to be optimistic and stop focusing on negative.

I understand. We were making different comparisons. I do like Briles. For several years under Briles (2010-2015), Baylor football was fun to watch and achieved amazing levels of success. It was under him that we had our only long streak of bowl game appearances, 7 years (including 2016 with his staff & players). That was the only time Baylor went to bowl games more than 2 years in a row.

My point was that under Briles Baylor DID win two conference championships but when there was no title game. We still have the notices posted proudly on the wall of McLane Stadium.

For the record, under Bennett the defense was improving. One cannot watch the 2012 K State game & the 2013 OU game and fail to see how much it was better than 2011 & early 2012. It definitely had much room for improvement, though, and we saw that in 2019 & especially 2021.

I definitely agree that we should look forward. I see no problem with using those years as a benchmark. Baylor achieved things never seen before or since: Heisman trophy, back to back conference titles, double digit wins regularly 2011 & 2013-2015), a Belinikoff award, 7 bowl games in a row, nation's #1 offense for several years in multiple categories, excited crowds game after game and year after year, building a new stadium, national #2 ranking three weeks in a row (2015), and so on. It would be wonderful if we could do some of that again.

I think all Baylor fans would like to see double digit wins, attending bowls, and competing for conference titles & playoff berths to become regular occurrences.

Do not want to cut losses too soon. Seen that too many times, the new coach kills it with the other coaches players. Hoke did that at Michigan when Rich Rod was fired. Rich did all the hard work and didn't get to finish. Arranda's team is showing progresss.

I agree with all that. What I also want to throw in is that Briles was building a brand. Had he been allowed to continue, the brand value of BU would continued to rise. We were getting called things like wide receiver U, etc. We put an exciting brand of football entertainment onto TV that was somewhat unique in its excellence. A strong brand brings eyeballs and makes a team more valuable to a conference. I'm not saying the SEC or B10 would have come calling but, had the B12 broke up, it would have helped us land in a P4.

Lose Big
Lose Close
Win Close
Win Big

That is an excellent point. I give Briles that, he knew how to build a brand. He was head and shoulders above both Rhule and Aranda in buidling a brand. For a little while, BU was the new Oregon.
