While Teaff was welcomed on the field for recognition of the 74 team, Briles was not extended an invitation for recognition of the 13 &14 teams. Baylor claims they are recognizing the players. That's fine except, I don't remember Teaff suiting up on the 74 team.

Can we just acknowledge and agree that our alma mater ranks about number one in the nation in assholishness? What is the harm in the invite? It would have been meaningless as surely they knew he would politely say he has another engagement and leave it at that.

He was paid $15,000,000 to be the scapegoat of our Board of Regents. If he had done anything wrong, he would not have been paid a cent. This move by the university was and will always be the biggest mistake ever made. He should have a statue in the stadium that he and RGIII built.

If by lost in the mail you mean "never was considered" then yes.

when my kids were younger and living under our roof I didn't expect to come home to a clean kitchen. My expectations didn't stop me from pointing out the fact that it should have been cleaned.

I would kind of like to see all the players invited decline out of protest for Briles.

Did you really think Art would get an invite?

With the way BU handled everything Briles is right up there with Hitler and Charlie Manson in public sentiment.

Baylor would get absolutely hammered by all media if they officially invited him.

I saw on social media that the players have planned a party and invited the coaches including Briles. I hope he attends.

I too would like to see the players shine a spotlight on how Baylor has treated Briles, even if Baylor is unwilling to admit their failures.

Mack was threatened by Kim Mulkey so he let her go, no way he's inviting CAB.

That party is going to be crashed by fans. But I suspect that may be the intent of publicly announcing about a week in advance.

Agree. Had there been no Briles there would've been no RGIII and no McLane Stadium.

Many on here would just rather yell at the clouds. Thank God they are not in charge of marketing or PR. Not always sure they would be a downgrade from whatever or whoever is but thankfully they are not.

Not inviting coaches was a convenient, and cowardly, method of avoiding the issue. It's similar to not having true all black uniforms or the chrome helmets that were so very popular during the time Briles was coaching. We'll have graphite and gold...but no chrome and black.

It's easy and cowardly for the administration to say "we only invited players, no coaches" instead of telling the truth.

A few years ago I took the time to Google the history of campus, and athletics only, sexual assault on American college campuses. The offenses took place at schools as disparate as Stanford, Yale, Alabama, Texas and USC. Interestingly, the known/proven/reported cases were much more numerous at various campuses than at Baylor. Of course, Baylor simply elected to not report.

There is no question for anyone with a functioning brain that Baylor's problems were:

1. A 1950's mindset....i.e.....Baylor students are different, they just don't do those terrible things.
2. A cowardly board and administration that knew better (that Baylor students were, in fact, human and not robots) and refused to acknowledge and deal with the problem, which was campus wide with no Title IX office and no effective training and procedures.
3. A convenient scapegoat in Briles. Pay him the money and let the world focus on him.....not us.

Cowards. The responsible parties got to act all high and mighty (we handled the problem!!) when in fact, they WERE the problem.

This is spot on.

Baylor's obsession with appearance over reality both created the environment for the scandal ("that kind of thing doesn't happen here") and fueled Baylor's response to the scandal (hang it on Briles and the big, scary black men).

And inviting Briles back would, in their mind, constitute some admission that he's not a serial rape enabler, which of course at this point they can't do.

Awful leadership all the way around.

Whole thing still disgusts me.

Please tell me how firing Briles helped the university? What would have been the worse outcome for the university if Briles was kept? Since the claim is that he was "scapegoated".

Could you imagine if we invited him and then got in so much trouble that our program sank to the point where we weren't winning games and we were barely hoping beyond hope to be bowl eligible? That would suck
