It would be risky for him to leave Baylor for OU given Venables hot seat, so OU would probably not only have to offer a high salary but also a multi year contract with a large buyout.
You would have to think he did the same thing here as well. CDA was in the basement when he or Mack called. If he keeps building and winning, hopefully he sticks for a good bit here.

I normally wouldn't care about losing an OC except that it took CDA 3 tries to find a guy who could get us in the top 30 in scoring

I think I would rather have Spav than Will Stein at this point. He is just going to get better here I believe. He is the best OC here since whomever was actually OC from 2011-15 whether that was actually CAB or whomever had the OC title.

I thought at the time that Spav was the best OC we could have got after our 2023 dumpster fire.

It took a few games to identify the correct players and get the system installed but the results speak for themselves.

Hope for the same type of improvement on defense next year.

Nice to be back to multiple scores and chunk plays on offense.

Yep, Spav finally lived up to what we were promised in the offseason. Real head scratcher as to why they went with Finn in the first place. Almost feels like an accident that they ended up with this offense. Just glad they figured it out ... eventually.

I was not crazy about the Spav hire. I was dead wrong.

To be fair, we don't know how Finn and Robertson looked in the spring. I suspect there was some pressure to use Finn since he was brought into the portal. And we had to have a backup with actual experience.....and he may have the best we could get that would come here.

Yes, the accidental nature of how they ended up with this offense is concerning to me. Better talent evaluation would have probably made us Big 12 champs. Let's hope that this doesn't happen going forward.

I also wonder how long it would have taken the staff to start Robertson had Finn never actually gotten injured.

I was ambivalent about Spav. At the beginning of the season and even the middle, his play calling was questionable at times.

But in the last 6 games, I noticed only 2 or 3 head scratchers.

The Colorado game was one of his worst called games, followed by the Houston game. Other games he was great.

We do not know what Finn and Robertson looked like in the fall camp before the season started. To assume that Finn did not perform better in practice is just that, an assumption. As I recall, Robertson showed some promise at the end of last season, but was very interception prone.

This is one spot I was worried about a combo of Spav/Sawyer landing. Glad to see someone else get it

I'm not sure if this is just chasing clicks… I really can't picture Spav leaving for the same position at another big 12 school

Locked on Bears is a clickbait factory that never has any sort of inside info. I'm sure Drake is a nice guy, but it's the truth

In any event, it would be devastating to lose spav to tech as it's a lateral move if not a small step down, and there's no way we couldn't match whatever tech would pay
