I'd be interested in seeing the statistic of win percentage in games where one team had a bye week and the other didn't. On paper, it's obviously a significant advantage. I think that's the obvious big thing that is trending in our favor. And we played very well against Texas Tech after our previous BYE week
Something clicked on offense after the first bye week. Hopefully something clicks in the defensive secondary after this bye week.
This is a good point. I talk to coaches all the time, and most say the biggest advantage of a bye week is the opportunity to work on yourself. In game weeks, it's all about devising, installing and coaching to a game plan that helps you beat a single opponent. Bye weeks are the only chance you have in season to focus primarily on shoring up your own weaknesses.

Hopefully we'll make as much progress defensively with this bye week as we did offensively with the last.

Morgantown has a curse on Baylor. Aranda better remember that before farting joy.

By Jove! This is the play. We must take away their Morgantown power and use it against them.

I hate to say this, but that seems like free money. If it was a night game, I would probably bet a princely sum on Country Roads.

We likely have to win this game to reach a bowl. Houston and Kansas are suddenly giant killers and I'm not liking our chances against them now.

It should help that we get KU at home. UH will be a road game…but with the crowds they draw that shouldn't be that big a deal.

But agree that both those games are suddenly looking tougher than they did a few weeks ago.

The Houston fear is odd. They're scrappy and certainly capable of beating us if we don't show up ready to compete. But they're last in the Big 12 in almost every offensive category. If we play to our offensive capabilities in that one, they won't be able to keep up.

Like us UH has started heating up in the back half of their schedule. The only loss they've had this year to a team with a losing record was the loss to KU.

I see it being another close game. We can win it...but I think it will be a fight.

The bettors have been on our side since the Iowa State loss. The line has moved our way every week during this run, even the Tech game moved from Tech -8 to -4 going into the game.
I saw WV -1 late Sunday night. Those boys in Vegas betting money that moves the line must like BU a lot.

Line had gotten up to BU -3....now it's back down to BU -1

There's this false sense that our offense is suddenly elite. Context is key here. Houston defensively is much better than Tech, Okie St or TCU. Those are 3 absolutely horrendous defenses.
And Houston may be poor offensively. But let's not kid ourselves here. They're going to hit some big plays on us.

What clicked was playing the worst passing defense in the B12 and taking advantage of it.

The good news is, WVU's pass defense is 2nd to worst in the B12.

And that will be a de facto home game for us.

How long has it been since we played a regular season game in that city? Rice?

I expect a big BU crowd.

It's not just the last three games. Our offense has been good since Sawyer Robertson took over as the starting quarterback.

Our scoring total against each of our last seven opponents exceeds their season average for points allowed. And it's by at least six points in five of those games.

It's OK to acknowledge that we are, in fact, good in some areas. And our offense tops that list.

Houston will not shut us down. And if they don't shut us down, they're going to have trouble winning because their offense is freaking atrocious. If we score 24 points, we'll win that game. And I don't think they'll hold us under 28.

We played Rice on a Friday night in 2019.

Last time we played UH there was in 1995. Announced crowd at the Astrodome was just under 18K; excluding the UH band, that was about 10K BU and 7500 UH fans.

Wow...knew it was good...but didn't realize it was that good. Two claps for Spav and Sawyer. Oh....and Bryson and the OL.

I remember a few years ago our OL was a real problem, a work in progress. Then, seemingly all of a sudden, it was vastly improved and looked great. I think that was from 2018 to 2019. Hopefully, history is repeating itself and we finally have a foundation to build on for long term success.

If both offense & defense can operate at a high level year after year (with some special teams greatness as well) then we will win lots of games, go bowling regularly, & contend for a conference title. Heck, we might even get into the playoffs. If so, let's not lay a TCU sized egg.

The only concern I would have is they aren't a game our team will easily get up for. Little history and still don't trust Dave as a motivator. Classic trap game especially if they beat WVU. But if our offense scores early, Hou can't play come from behind ball.

Dave gets decent effort and the safeties are healthy and mediocre.. multiple score win. If not could lose late. Still the best matchup left.

I'm honestly surprised were ahead of as many teams as we are. But notice where West Virginia is on that list.

That should bode well for us tomorrow.

Ok....we will beat UH.

If we can win in Morgantown 7-5 should be a given with a good chance at 8-4.

This is definitely a measuring stick game. There is nothing special about this WV team. They are average, just like everyone in the conference this year.

It's laughable how many different ways we have lost games at WV over the years. One of these years it's going to go our way.
