tied for 12th best in program history (based on # of wins). In other words, BU football has had 11 seasons of 9 or more wins. If the Bears win their bowl game and get win #9, then their 9-4 season would be tied 8th best ever.

For more perspective in Teaff's 20 seasons, his best 3 seasons were two 8 win regular seasons (85 and 86) and a 10 win regular season.

Baylor played 11 game seasons during Teaff's tenure

And so…? You were going back even further in history when we played 10 games. I would add no one was visciousky attacking Teaff and calling for Teaff to be fired during those seasons either.

8 wins out of 11 is better than 8 wins out of 12. But thanks anyway.

Hmm……..didnt you start this thread and it was about our entire history going back some 120 or so years and talking about how this ranks 12 or something in wins per season going back 120 or so years? Maybe be consistent if you really want to talk about these perspectives.

Yeah….ok…. I don't think I started the conversation I responded to this thread which I thought you started. I also never asked a question. But thank you. I have enjoyed this season.

Actually, you started the conversation. You are the OP

I was going to question your math. I did some research and you are correct:

1916 9-1
1956 9-2
1980 10-2
2011 10-3
2013 11-2
2014 11-2
2015 10-3
2019 11-3
2021 12-2

Plus several 8 win seasons since the 1920s. If we win the bowl game, our 9 win season will be tied for 8th place.
OP did say "program history".

Including 2 wins over 8-4 teams in TCU and TT.

Respect to Aranda and Co for making it happen when it looked so dark.

Yeah a rhetorical question. I thought it more polite than "so what". Which is another form of rhetorical question.. Did you start this thread just to attack anyone who engaged in the discussion? Unfortunate if so because it looked like a good discussion topic just at the OP stage.

I guess it really doesn't matter. I will say I am quite pleased with the 2024 season. I believed Aranda was going to turn it around. I did not expect necessarily an 8 win regular season right away.

But I'm grateful to be wrong about this season.

you should go by win % since we play more games now.

Anyone not fully behind CDA and this team needs a serious look in the mirror. What has happened here is remarkable. This was a team that had quit. We all watched Iowa state. That team was done. How CDA got them to give a crap enough to win 6 in a row is something we should all take note of. It's a case study in need of telling.

Mired in mediocrity. That's the sweet spot that Baylor leadership wants to be and we are there. Winning season. Chicken s h I t bowl game. Goody....... Goody!!!!! Rinse and repeat for the next decade.

We are Baylor.

2 things:

1. Just as Aranda deserves credit for turning the season around, he also deserves the blame and the heat for the bad performances prior to this. His calls for termination were quite reasonable given the dire straits we were in. I'm thankful we came out of the slump, but if the situation arises again and we go 3-8 next year, you can bet I will wanting a coaching change once again. As far as what people did or did not do during the Teaff era-I don't care.

2. To the OP-Your responses to other Baylor fans are both inhuman and reprehensible. You have what appears to be people supporting your post here and you proceed to dump on them.

Wrong. There was one year in particular that the calls for termination were brutal even by Baylor standards. I was on that team.

Thee I meant during the seasons I mentioned where we won 8 games or more in the regular season. I also doubt Teaff was personally attacked for his appearance and personality as part of any calls for his firing in 77 or 78 like they were coming from 5th graders as we all had to endure on this board regarding Aranda over the from 2023 until a month ago.

You sound rational and objective. I don't understand how you, specifically, always end up on Message Board Geniuses. It's not like you're a dummy. You know words. You have the best words. Everyone on this site has tremendous respect for you and your very very large, uh, brain.

Keep riding Briles' dick, buddy, you're on the right side of history with this one. I, too, miss the days when we had an athletic director, university president, and head football coach working in unison to bury sexual assault allegations, evade drug tests, and keep players eligible even if it meant bullying professors into changing grades.

It's all about the kids, right? And giving them second chances. Some may even need third, fourth, or even fifth chances, but who are we to judge? That's God's job. We just want winning football.

Sadly, those days are gone. No more backroom deals with Ken Starr, kind of like the one he negotiated to keep this tremendously wonderful p3d0phile from serving time in prison, despite admitting to horrific crimes. I can't remember that man's name, but he was prominent in the Palm Beach community and was quoted on tape as saying, "Donald Trump was my best friend for 10 years."

We are Baylor.

An 8-4, 8-5, or 9-4 program is well beyond mediocre. It is also not the goal that this be the ceiling. The goal for all involved is to be even better.

I would imagine that had any of those seasons required a season-closing six-game winning streak to achieve and/or followed a dismal three-win campaign, Teaff (or any other coach) would have caught heat, too. And deservedly so.

Aranda deserves a ton of credit for leading a truly remarkable -- and frankly, unlikely -- turnaround. This season is a success by any reasonable standard. And while the last six games should change our perspective about the future -- all Baylor fans should be excited IMO -- they shouldn't be used to rewrite history. And the fact of matter is our performance from November 2022 through the Iowa State game this season was unacceptable for a program with any sort of standards at all.

Fortunately, those days appear to be behind us and we can all unite around this team and staff going forward. But 2-13 in conference can't be whitewashed or dismissed. That was a long stretch of terrible football.

And yet there is still no justification for alleged adults who are educated to personally attack the coach for his appearance, his personality speaking style and calm demeanor during that time. It should be noted the time of which you speak was not coincidentally during a time Baylor administratively fell behind again when the world abruptly changed and was not supporting its program like everyone else was.

You have this unique ability to blame everyone/thing except for Aranda for that horrible stretch of FB played from mid 22 through September of 24. Yet you want everyone kissing Dave's ass for this 6 game win streak.
Credit to Dave he did a magnificent job down the stretch (arguably his best coached game was the KU win yesterday imo)
If we're supposed to give Dave all this credit for this run (which is deserved) than we should be able be to critical of the atrocious 2 years the program went through.
PartyBear
How long do you want to ignore this user?
How is saying he shouldn't have been attacked personally during a 8 win regular season the same as wanting you to kiss is ass? I don't care if you kiss his ass or still call for his firing. He has already exposed several here for the kind of people they are, at least when they can be anonymous.

It's PB, he consistently hyper exaggerates everyone critical of CDA and downplays any of CDAs faults and blames it all on Mack.
