Jerry Palm at CBS is not paying very close attention, as he predicts:

ArizSt to CFP
BYU v Colo in Alamo
IowaSt v Clemson in Pop-Tart (met there 2 years ago)
TCU v LSU in Texas
KST v Vandy in Liberty
Tech v Rutgers in Rate
BU v Tulane in Armed Forces
WV v Arky in Birmingham

As laughable as that is, would (almost) be worth it if his prediction came true of:

OU v Jacksonville St in the Scooter's Coffee Frisco Bowl

I'm glad these predictions are generally wrong. Tulane in FtW would be terrible.

Jerry Palm is clearly a Baylor hater. We're not going to the Armed Forces Bowl, lol. There's no chance that'll happen.

Are we waiting for the results of the Big 12 CCG to get chosen by a bowl?
CaliBear00
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yup, waiting to see who loses the CCGs to seed the rest of the bowl games.

We play Navy in the armed forces bowl, hopefully it turns out better than the last freezer bowl against Air Force, ughhhh.

Hell, no. We are not going back to the Armed Forces Bowl. It does nothing for the program.

Alamo gonna be a B12 family affair...I'm glad we aren't involved in this one.

Washington State could have been there if they hadn't faceplanted against 5-7 New Mexico and 3-9 Wyoming.

There is a saying in Washington, they "Coug'd it."

Meaning:

To fail when succeeding is far easier.

I'm of the mind that if we are invited to the Armed Forces Bowl, I wouldn't care if Aranda declines it.

Hopefully not playing OU. I see no upside to doing this. They lucked out to be bowl eligible so a win is not that impressive. If we were to lose the game, it would look just like most years of the Big XII. The only positive in winning would be it would be against the SEC, but it would mean nothing to those that decide the CFP in years to come.

For what it is worth, Heartland Sports had us going to the Texas Bowl to play A&M on Dec. 31.
I would be good with that.

Like the Texas Bowl but would prefer someone other than Aggy. Can we get the Hogs?

That would be fun. It's been a while since we beat them, over 30 years.

A lot will depend on whether the SECSECSEC gets 4 (UT, UGA, other UT, Bama) or only 3 in the CFP.

SEC has 9 other guaranteed bowl slots and 13 total teams bowl eligible. The 9 who won't make the CFP (despite Kiffin's toddler tantrum) are:

9-3/5-3 Mizzou
9-3/5-3 Ole Miss
9-3/5-3 S Carolina
8-4/5-3 Aggy
8-4/5-3 LSU
7-5/4-4 Fla
6-6/3-5 Arky
6-6/3-5 Vandy
6-6/2-6 OU

Guaranteed slots are:

Citrus
ReliaQuest
Gator
Texas
Liberty
Music City
Las Vegas
Birmingham
Gasparilla

So if Bama makes the CFP, the 3 9-3 schools would likely fill Citrus/ReliaQuest/Gator, leaving Texas/Liberty/Music City to choose between Aggy, LSU, Arky and Florida. One of those would go to Las Vegas, but not LSU since they already played there. Vandy might go to Liberty since it's fairly close by and the stadium is half torn down for remodel, so a large fanbase isn't a necessity to fill a smaller stadium. OU rightfully gets sent to a crap bowl with its crap record.

If Bama gets left out, then everyone else shifts down a slot and a Mizzou might fall to the Texas bowl, but not likely a S Carolina (too far west) or Ole Miss vs. us (we met 3 years ago).

And don't forget: the SEC "assigns" its teams to bowls (not necessarily based on standings) to judiciously avoid matchups it doesn't want, and Aggy has conveniently managed to avoid being matched with a former SWC rival in a bowl since 2001.

Any of those options would be ok but I agree: the Texas Bowl vs Aggies is preferable.

They will slowly be released throughout the day on ESPN. First they will release the NY6 games and then the others.

They really draw it out needlessly.
TomW
How long do you want to ignore this user?
So the matchups are released slowly on the Selection Show? I get the conferences like SEC need time to discuss where to send their non-CFP teams and the bowls need time to decide and confirm acceptance with the teams they select and then it's I guess sent to ESPN to publicize and then ESPN takes its time publicizing it.

Unrelated to Baylor being mentioned I'm seeing some noise for Alabama in the Texas Bowl. Like a Baylor vs. Bama matchup on New Years Eve in Houston?

Bama isn't going to fall that far.

Not really. Although many of their seniors will opt out. They are still loaded with 5* juniors and sophomores. I think it would be a tough day for us.

I'm wondering if Alabama missing the playoffs might impact the Texas Bowl?
