This stinks of tampering.
That or it's because they only got him 8 catches. What a waste of talent
They had three receivers this year with 600 or more yards. And a tight end with over 300. There are only so many snaps and catches to go around, and the guys who played ahead of him are all good, veteran players.
That would kind of be like calling Jadon Porter's season for us a waste of talent. Who should be be playing ahead of?
Jadon Porter wasn't a 5 star. Tech had a lot of games where they were up a lot over their opponent, I would've cooked something up for him in those scenarios
Regardless of star rating, Tech had three receivers who were likely better than Hudson at this state of their respective development.
Josh Kelly (89-1,023, 5 TDs), Caleb Douglas (55-762, 6 TDs) and Coy Eakin (45-605, 6 TDs) are all really good, reliable receivers. We can argue the wisdom of bringing in a bluechip recruit at a position of strength, but benching good players to satisfy freshmen is a good way to lose games you might otherwise have won.
This is particularly true in an era where you can just add a transfer to fill their spot at at that position the following year -- as they did with Kelly with Douglas.
