Portal is open for business tomorrow. Here's a thread to keep track of who we might be pursuing and who we sign.

Happy portaling.

I like how bold Aranda has been talking the past couple of weeks. You can tell he thinks really highly of where the program currently is.

What a freaking difference two months have made.

Good luck to both, but neither were significant contributors. We're going to have some attrition -- and frankly need some to build the best roster we can. If we're going to lose guys (and everybody is), these are the types you want to lose to the portal.

I think in the case of KR-D, he was recruited as a tight end and is still learning the position at a D1 level. He is clearly athletic and has the size / frame, but not sure where his ceiling is as a DL. Don't know anything about Tyshawn, but it's pretty clear we need upgrades in the secondary, so I imagine if he is not better than any of the guys starting, we can probably replace him in the portal.

Sucks that a team that accomplished so much will still lose players to the portal seeking more money. Just the way it is now. All the other conferences are farm systems for the B1G and SEC.

I assume the idea is kids can transfer for spring semester, but yeah.

I would say it would not be unfair that schools can drop schollies after the season is over if players can portal. If this is going to be a business, run it like a business

If he wants to join a high powered offense he'd be walking into more of a sure bet in Waco than Norman. OU is bringing in that young OC from Wash St...but he hasn't established anything at OU yet.

I'm sure if they read your jerk-wad comments, they wouldn't like it very much.

"Fans" on here say worse about our star players in game threads when they fail to get a first down only two minutes into the game.

Anytime we have a player leave or de-commit, there's always people that pull the "not a big deal" card. It doesn't matter if it's a backup lineman or starting quarterback. Just being honest, it's how message boards are I guess

Because participation reports and stats exist ... ?

As I said, I wish both well at their next stop -- as I do most of the players who transfer away from Baylor. But to open spots for rotation-caliber transfers and incoming freshmen, we need some guys like these to transfer to places where they'll have a better opportunity to play and contribute.

I'm not going to cry crocodile tears over losing guys who couldn't crack our two-deep. I'm going to wish them well and be glad that we have those scholarships to reallocate.

If we were losing difference-makers, we'd have a problem. But most of the guys we've had transfer out during the portal era have been middling players at best.

I get more exhausted by those who make a huge deal out of every transfer than those who do what you're suggesting.

The fact of the matter is programs need a certain degree of attrition to build their best rosters in the portal era. And these are the types of players you want to lose. That doesn't make them bad people -- or even bad players. But you need some of the guys with no clear path to playing time to transfer to places where they'll have better opportunities. In those cases, the best course action is to wish them well and move on.

True. It is a professional sport now. All pretense of the student athlete is gone. Schools are hiring the best talent they can afford to build their brand. Players are going to the team where they can maximize earnings and playing time.

That weird antiquated thing about enrolling and attending classes for the next semester likely gets in the way of having it later.

Just from looking at the stats, he would seem to be a solid replacement for Matt Jones beside Keaton Thomas.

The past couple of years recruits on visits would usually wear the all gold/yellow in their pics.

I've noticed this year many wearing the anthracite.

I am sure both were good contributors in practice running scout teams and things like that. Maybe even great teammates, encouraging, helping others, etc.

But what I think was meant by the contribution part was on field stats of which both are lacking in. That is not a knock against them but rather a fact that they did not see much playing time which is probably why they are wanting to leave.

That is the way it works at every school. Guys who don't play much want to go somewhere they believe they can play. Big stars at smaller schools (G5) want to go to a bigger school (P4) to get a bigger pay check and exposure for NFL scouts.
