Wouldn't it be wonderfully ironic if Texas gets eliminated from the College Football Playoff by a Big 12 team.

That is what happened to us in 2005....we hammered UT in baseball during the season, and they eliminated us in Omaha.SirBearALot said:
If Texas were to play Georgia again and win, then they would be the national champions even though Georgia beat them twice. That just doesn't the same right!!

This is what I hate about the TX UIL system that expanded the playoff to 4 teams in a district. When I was in high school, you won your district or you were done. You are correct you have to beat a team the last time. It is kind of like baseball when you have an ace pitcher and not much else to throw at the opponent. In football or basketball you may have a scheme that the opponent is just not ready to handle. But once you show it to beat them and win your conference, the opponent has plenty of time to scheme to beat it later in the season. I think that is what beat the women with the A&M situation. When the level of competition is not GROSSLY imbalanced, if you play enough times the weaker team is certain to win at least once.EvilTroyAndAbed said:SirBearALot said:

Villanova beat Georgetown in basketball after losing 3 times during the season. A&M women beat us after losing 3 times. You got to beat them the last time.

I think Texas is just too strong up front.muddybrazos said:
If ASU were at full strength they could probably keep it respecatble but they will probably get rolled. I dont care who wins the whole thing as long as its not Ohio St.

Notre Dame is flying way under the radar. It's a huge "if", but if they can beat a very vulnerable Georgia team, I like their chances to go all the way. That Northern Illinois loss is such a head scratcher. We all had them dead and buried after that one, but I think they have a legit shot to win the whole thing.
Anyone but Texas or Ohio state at this point.

It would be wonderful although very unlikely. I wanted Clemson to beat them and, naturally, I'd like to see ASU advance. However, as things look now, I expect the title game to be Oregon vs Georgia.
It would be funny, sorta, if Texas were to play Georgia a third time this season.
If Texas can get by Georgia on the third try, they win the National, Sark is King and UT arrogance is unbounded. If they lose for the third time, Saban, Belichick, et. al. will be contacted... again..historian said:

Biggest $ donors at UT and Del Conte love Sark. He's not going anywhere anytime soon unless he goes on the bottle again and does something embarrassing like Beard did to put them in a situation where they have to fire him. And many are still fearful after they wandered in the desert for so long after they ran Mack off. Sark will be gifted a complete roster every year to the point he'll be in the playoffs with a chance to win every year.
Yeah, it would be hard for me to decide who to root for in that case. Texas could show what a sham the whole fake playoff thing is, how how conference titles are totally meaningless, by beating Georgia and throwing the bird to the SEC.historian said:

I think out of the old P12 teams, Oregon has the best chance of doing that.Dia del DougO said:

Yeah, but I can't root for Oregon.morethanhecouldbear said:I think out of the old P12 teams, Oregon has the best chance of doing that.Dia del DougO said:

They have the money to buy a dynasty in the SEC if that becomes the deciding factor. The issue is whether they have the right coach in place, and of course, injuries.Johnny Bear said:Big12Fan2024 said:

Sounds like you're kinda sorta predicting that UT is about to become the new Alabama. Man I hope that doesn't come to fruition.
