Wouldn't it be wonderfully ironic if Texas gets eliminated from the College Football Playoff by a Big 12 team.

It would be wonderful although very unlikely. I wanted Clemson to beat them and, naturally, I'd like to see ASU advance. However, as things look now, I expect the title game to be Oregon vs Georgia.

It would be funny, sorta, if Texas were to play Georgia a third time this season.

If Texas were to play Georgia again and win, then they would be the national champions even though Georgia beat them twice. That just doesn't the same right!!

We're all Arizona State, Boise State, and Notre Dame fans for the next week to keep this from becoming an all SEC/Big Ten event.

I went to the trail of lights last night. So many "distinguished alumni" wearing all kinds of off brand Texas gear.

That is what happened to us in 2005....we hammered UT in baseball during the season, and they eliminated us in Omaha.

Villanova beat Georgetown in basketball after losing 3 times during the season. A&M women beat us after losing 3 times. You got to beat them the last time.

This is what I hate about the TX UIL system that expanded the playoff to 4 teams in a district. When I was in high school, you won your district or you were done. You are correct you have to beat a team the last time. It is kind of like baseball when you have an ace pitcher and not much else to throw at the opponent. In football or basketball you may have a scheme that the opponent is just not ready to handle. But once you show it to beat them and win your conference, the opponent has plenty of time to scheme to beat it later in the season. I think that is what beat the women with the A&M situation. When the level of competition is not GROSSLY imbalanced, if you play enough times the weaker team is certain to win at least once.

It all goes to the question of how many times do you have to beat someone? And the answer is once, if it is the right time.

Have always disliked this happening but unfortunately it won't be the first time. 2021 national title was a rematch of UGA vs Bama with the opposite result as the game played one month prior. Who should be the national champ? The team that won in January or the team that won in December? If only Baylor hadn't lost in the final seconds against TCU that year.

It's a sad world we live in, but it's going to be an all SEC/Big 10 event. The SE-10 Invitational, with Ohio State as the winner over Georgia. Womp Womp. Rich get richer. Finebaum and others have fodder for months.

If ASU were at full strength they could probably keep it respecatble but they will probably get rolled. I dont care who wins the whole thing as long as its not Ohio St.

Notre Dame is flying way under the radar. It's a huge "if", but if they can beat a very vulnerable Georgia team, I like their chances to go all the way. That Northern Illinois loss is such a head scratcher. We all had them dead and buried after that one, but I think they have a legit shot to win the whole thing.

Anyone but Texas or Ohio state at this point.

I think Texas is just too strong up front.

That's where the B12 teams have to focus on becoming elite if they want to win more than the B12.

UT's D is for real and while I hate to say it, I believe they will at least contain Skattebo (if not pretty much shut him down altogether) which will in and of itself likely set up a relatively easy "W" for the horns. Would love to be proven wrong, however.

I'm not sold on Georgia yet, especially if Beck is out (not impressed with him either)

I'm sure Kirby will have them boys ready to play though

It would be delicious, but do not see it happening.

1. Lowest beta - Texas Win
2. Most competitive - OSU/Oregon and ND/Georgia
3. Highest beta - Penn State/Boise

If I had to bet today I think Texas, OSU, Georgia, PSU. But I could just as easily see Texas, Oregon, ND, and Boise.

Sic'em. Beat LSU.

And I will be beyond surprised if Texas is still playing starters 4th quarter. I will be surprised it Arizona State is still within striking distance at halftime.

Y'all do know they lost to Texas Tech and Cincinnati, right? Yes, they won the conference title. Congrats. But Skattebo isn't beating the number one running and scoring defense by himself.

The games are won and lost on the OL and DL. I don't think that ASU is going to hold up well at all vs UT.

If Texas can get by Georgia on the third try, they win the National, Sark is King and UT arrogance is unbounded. If they lose for the third time, Saban, Belichick, et. al. will be contacted... again..

I think Texas is pretty much married to Sark at this point. He has had more success than any coach since Mack Brown in the early 2000s. Sark isn't going to get run out of town anytime soon.

Texas will keep spending stupid money on players…sark will probably win at least 9 games for the foreseeable future

Biggest $ donors at UT and Del Conte love Sark. He's not going anywhere anytime soon unless he goes on the bottle again and does something embarrassing like Beard did to put them in a situation where they have to fire him. And many are still fearful after they wandered in the desert for so long after they ran Mack off. Sark will be gifted a complete roster every year to the point he'll be in the playoffs with a chance to win every year.

Sounds like you're kinda sorta predicting that UT is about to become the new Alabama. Man I hope that doesn't come to fruition.

Yeah, it would be hard for me to decide who to root for in that case. Texas could show what a sham the whole fake playoff thing is, how how conference titles are totally meaningless, by beating Georgia and throwing the bird to the SEC.

I almost hope Arizona State wins the whole damn thing after leaving the Pac2 in rubble.

Bring back the old bowl system and the greatness of college football post-season. There will never be a legit playoff in college football, at least until it just stops pretending to be college football and separates as a pro league where all the divisions are regulated equally and impartially by the league...except for the inherent crooked and incompetent officiating.

I think out of the old P12 teams, Oregon has the best chance of doing that.

They have the money to buy a dynasty in the SEC if that becomes the deciding factor. The issue is whether they have the right coach in place, and of course, injuries.
