I looked at the background of the new OLB coach, Carson Hall. It hasn't been exaggerated too much, but there is some fluff on his resume.

He was a walk on Defensive lineman at Georgia from 2015-2017, but apparently never played a snap for the Bulldogs. The resume makes it sound like he was a contributing player. Walk Ons do contribute during practice time, but this seems a little stretched.

He was apparently a graduate assistant at LSU in the Spring of 2021, but I can't find any confirmation of this.

He was a graduate assistant for 5 years at Valdosta State, Illinois, LSU and Georgia.

The Western Kentucky media guide has him listed as the co-DL coach at Georgia for 2021 and 2022, coaching players like Jordan Davis, Jalen Carter, Travon Walker, Devonte Wyatt and Nolan Smith.

He was not the co-Defensive line coach those two years, he was a Grad Assistant.

I've seen worse resumes (George O'Leary- Go Irish!), but it is a little troublesome.

I hope he does a good job for the Bears.

So he's been around the game and has gotten a little privilege. Let's hope he learned some things at each step that will help us

There's a lot of that kind of ambiguous stuff on most resumes. If he's a good coach, he's a good coach. I doubt his hiring was based on paper as much as people that know him and what he does. At least I hope that's the case, because I think that's generally how it works for a fairly significant coaching position.

I bet if we turned every person on this boards resume upside down we'd find bits of fluff on each one. No one is going to list "tutored under the comptroller and did all of their ***** work" on their resume. They'll talk about managing and creating budgets and financial reports.

Same as a coach saying "I coached these 5 first round draft picks" vs "I held blocking dummies for Jordan Davis and made sure he showed up to study hall on time"

He was on staff for a championship team and saw how things were done and partook. He walked on and played, maybe not in a game but so what? Mike Leach never played in a college football game. Did Matt Rhule play in lots of games for Penn State? Did Kenny Dillingham even play a down in college? Lincoln Riley made it through like 5 practices before being asked to be a coach.

As long as he isn't saying that he's a guru or a genius, I'm cool with it

Seems like energy that could have been spent on some of our rivals..not us..

He's been at Nebraska 2 years..not 3..and they're obviously trending up as they made a bowl for the first time in a million years.

Rhule has absolutely had success as a head coach. It's not like he's been handed the keys to juggernaut programs either

Basically a 500 record as a college coach and such a bad record in the pros he was fired. I would say he is a average coach, those are a dime a dozen. You are what you record says you are.

We have Yoda so shouldn't be an issue. Maybe fatterson will pop into waco on occasion

I don't think that's a fair take to coaches like Mike Leach who routinely coach at historically bad programs. David Cutcliffe had a historic run at Duke turning the program around and getting investment but had a losing record overall. No Cutcliffe no Elko or Diaz
