Even playing field competition is fair and makes winning glorious.

Buying wins by significantly out spending competition is disgusting and makes competition a farce.

I agree...but unfortunately I think even before NIL it wasn't an even playing field and the ones spending the most were getting the best players

Where are people even getting this data about dollar figures for NIL? Honestly, all these sources come across as being total bogus
Fairly easy. There are very few 1 on 1 deals done in NIL. Essentially the player rep (Agent) sends out a prospectus to numerous schools NIL directors stating what the starting point and/or buying point is, so a good $ estimate is already available in the marketplace. Take that and add to the fact player rep's business is getting more clients so they like to show off what they got their most recent guy in order to drum up more business.

So these players agents say "trust me bro", and that's basically the source? Like I get it - a lot of people like Joey Mcguire and want to see him succeed, but I don't buy any of these figures

No, most of them basically show the contract to media. These aren't side handshake deals. They are legal documents. And the schools Tech outbid had the same numbers in front of them and they talk to the media too and basically say "this is what it cost Tech at minimum to get this kid." It's not that different than any other industry. Customers show me the exact contract a competitor used to outbid me and my company. It's not as secretive as some think. Now, are the numbers from the media exactly correct down to the last dollar? No, of course not. But they are in the ballpark with the numbers they report.

But make sure it's a valid media source you're getting the information from and don't listen necessarily to some high school or college blogger.

Giving a muscle car to a child. They may know how to hit the gas and work the steering wheel, but history proves they'll eventually drive it into the side of a building at full speed.

Yep, here's the article, although it's paywalled: https://www.espn.com/college-football/insider/story/_/id/43952974/2025-college-football-returning-production-rankings-136-teams

Baylor returns 68% of its total production from 2024. 72% on offense (15th in the country) and 65% on defense (26th).

Man...it's hard not to get excited about what could be next year. We are gonna find out pretty quick what we are made of with some big early tests.

Gonna be a long 6 month wait.
