You know, I would make the prediction that this will be one of those sad instances where an NFL player goes from being a big shot to living in a tent under the highway in 10 years, but he has the ultimate safety blanket with his dad, so not going to happen. The Browns are truly the dumbest franchise of all time though, at least they're not paying him that much as a fifth rounder I guess

I'd also like to hear what Skip Bayless would say about that party. Not a lot of Caucasian representation

If he fails I bet dad would bring him on staff in some capacity.

I was thinking Staubach and Montana.

That dude better learn real quick that for most of his teammates in the NFL, that is their job and a lot of them have wives and kids. They care about making money and winning (which means they are making more money), not being a baller.

Not holding my breath.

I've never understood the hype around Sanders. He did one good thing in college, he had enough skill to throw to Travis Hunter, that's it.

That's actually a pretty good comparison. Mentally too apparently

I haven't seen anything about him being identified or apologizing. But I haven't paid much attention to it.

It is not a cool thing to do or even funny. You are messing with someone's career/livelihood. That is not cool.

The guys that did this would not like it if someone prank called them after a job interview.

Oh, I thought you had meant someone more recent. Yeah, Manziel made even less sense. He clearly had the good only in college look from the start. I'm not sure how any GM truly thought he was an NFL prospect at all, let alone in the first round.

What are you talking about? Manziel won the Heisman in aggy's first year in the SEC. Baylor didn't even play them that season.

Fre3dom is talking about the Kansas State-Baylor game in 2012, where Collin Klein entered the game as one of the favorites to win Heisman. After losing to Baylor, Klein's stock dropped and Manziel became a clearer frontrunner. In an interview Manziel credited that game for helping him win the Heisman.

Yep. Optimus was the big time front runner given the team success he was leading KSU to etc. With that win, he'd have likely secured but alas, it wasn't meant to be

Johnny is/was honestly more likable and more talented than Sanders. Johnny was just a cocky qb with a drug and alcohol problem. he did not have rich and famous dad as head coach demanding that the red carpet be rolled out at every stop. Heck, Johnny got in trouble for selling autographs. He played behind a great offensive line and had an elite receiver in Mike Evans, but I think he had better pocket presence and was a better point guard as a quarterback than Sanders. I think Johnny also had more self-awareness in that he knew people thought he was cocky and tried to turn on the charm before the draft.

But he got Ali, Vontae Mack, Ray Jennings and his picks back.

Pregnant Ali. That's worth the Yellowstone. (She has a Capital One card)

Glad they did that.

However, I saw that there was another player, a lineman I think, that received 4 or 5 prank calls and it seems no one (NFL) is looking into that at all.

This is why people react negatively to Sanders.

The prank was ****ty but not worth a $250,000 fine ...

If an outsider had done it, there would have been no fine or issue. However, when it was done by an insider, they should absolutely have to pay. Those being drafted should not have to put up with harassment from the teams/staff. Clearly that coach should have protected the information, and there was no call for that. I hope the adult kid, that should have known better, has learned something about human decency and how to act as a result of this fine and the embarrassment he caused for his father and the team.

I feel like the big fine was in part a reaction to placate the, "Sanders falling in the draft was a racist controversy" crowd. The NFL is very worried about race issues after the kneeling for the anthem thing, and they're not going to let anything get in the way of making money

Where does the fine money go? Maybe it's in the article... but I'm too lazy to look. I've often wondered where fine funds end up in a number of realms.
