Hey! Since Auburn started playing these Non-Con Home-Home series one of my favorite things is getting to visit with other fans that we would never have otherwise.

What I like to do is come to yalls board and make a post for 1 of 2 things.

1. What are your expectations for this game? What should we expect?

2. I will be making the trip to Waco! Would love any suggestions you have for places to eat/things to do.

Here is where Auburn fans are at on this season/game.
We are on Year 3 with Hugh and this is put up or shut up time for him. Last year we lost alot of close games and while we didnt have the best QB play Hugh has to take some of the blame. How we do this year will come down to Jackson Arnold. WRs and DBs are Elite. Those are the two clear position groups that we have that I think are on par with the top teams in America. OL should be improved. So far in Fall Camp the DL and LB have impressed which is interesting because that might be the biggest question marks I had going into Camp. RB room concerns me a ton. There is talent but they have yet to show it.

In terms of expectation for result of the game most everyone believes this will be a close game. If you are a sunshine pumper you think we will win, If your doom and gloom you think we will lose because we havent proven it yet with Hugh. Time will tell.

Personally I have no clue.

Thanks for your time! Pumped that the season is almost here and to be in Waco in 3 weeks!

Won't speak for the fanbase as a whole. But the glaring concern I have is the bears secondary against the Auburn skill position guys. Baylor's secondary has sucked the last few years. Just calling a spade a spade. The other concern I have is the trenches. SEC teams notoriously have dudes in the trenches. Specifically on the DL. BU will move the ball but I think Auburn will as well. I see it being somewhat high scoring.

Welcome to the forum. I'm looking forward to a really entertaining game.

My question for you… how much does your fan base already hate/regret having prima donna UT in the conference?

Welcome aboard, Auburn fan. If you check the WACO Forum there are threads re: best food in town and other stuff. Personally I would either go to Cupp's or Vitek's for lunch and Shorty's pizza after the game. All are in the same neighborhood south of campus, along Speight Ave.

There are trendy places downtown which would be easier to access before and after the game. I'm more of a steak, burgers & pizza kind of guy and I stay in my lane.

Park and ride to the game and enjoy some pleasant conversation on the bus. Our fans clap politely and are rarely impaired when leaving the stadium...this isn't a night game in Death Valley.

Drive careful and enjoy your time at Baylor.

1. Who knows. Feel decent about our offense, lukewarm about our defense. I'm not sure there's a final score that could surprise me, given the unknowns for both teams.

2. There are a number of staples that you'll see repeated by Baylor fans, George's, Cupps, Dubl-R, Vitek's, Shorty's. But here's a few other really good ones that should be mentioned:

a. Revival Eastside Eatery - Sandwich shop with gourmet-ish sandwiches, Biblical theme menu and craft beer and wine - Very Baylor-y restaurant
b. Helberg BBQ - Actually located in Woodway (a sort of suburb of Waco) but it's very close and considered a top 50 BBQ place in Texas
c. Eat breakfast at Harold Wait Pancake and Steak.

1. I feel good about the overall talent of our team, but I don't have strong confidence in Aranda as a coach overall. The offense is definitely the strength of the team, so I do expect it will be a fairly high scoring game as another poster stated

2. If you have kids, I would suggest Cameron Park zoo as something to do to kill time. It's actually a very nice little zoo

1. The game feels like a coin toss. Normally, I'd give Auburn an automatic W due to talent alone, but this is a better than normal Baylor roster, and I think Baylor has the edge in coaching. That said, I'm kind of leaning towards an Auburn win. Baylor usually comes out of the gate a little slow every year. Don't get me wrong though. If Baylor ends up a top 10 team this year, that wouldn't totally surprise me either.

2. My recommendations would depend a lot on your travel arrangements and where you're coming from, but my general recommendations would be...

Breafast: Geriks (in West), Magnolia Table (get there early), Waco Waffle Co (if you're willing to drive a bit),
Cafe Cappuccino (not particularly special, but it's local and consistently pretty decent)

Lunch/Dinner: Papa Jacks or Helberg (BBQ), Pivovar (Czech food, but recommend the Angus burger), for Mexican food you can pick any restaurant or food truck on La Salle Ave by Baylor's campus and you can't go wrong. George's is a Waco classic, but you go for the atmosphere over the food. Their sister restaurant Jorge's is my personal favorite Mexican food in town, but it's a bit out of the way.

Hope that helps, and welcome to town!

Agree with a lot of the prior posts as far as the game feeling like a 50-50 pick 'em type game going in. May come down to who makes the least number of first game type mistakes. Big opportunity for both teams to make an early season statement.

With it being a sloppy first game, it's going to be a matter of who responds better to getting punched in the mouth.

I have a lot of confidence in our returning O. I have more questions marks about our new D pieces.

Should be a good game, close either way it goes.

If your wife is with you (assuming you're married) I'd bet she will insist on going to The Silos and Magnolia empire. It's not far from campus and Chip and Jo have done a great job of drawing visitors to their shop, bakery, restaurant, etc. As someone else mentioned if you have kids with you the zoo and Dr. Pepper Museum are good ideas. We drive in from Louisiana for a few games a year and have started staying at a camper spot called Waco Creekside in Elm Mott, a short drive north of the stadium and campus. We rent a Cabin there, much cheaper than the nice motels in town.

That was kind of weird. First off, they say the game is on Thursday night. Then they talk at length about how many players (11) Baylor brought in from the transfer portal to make an immediate impact. Then, at the end, they talk only about Auburn having all the transfer portal help, not Baylor. Seems as if the AI bot got confused

My suspicion is that most Baylor fans expect the overall talent to match up similarly to the lsu game since that is the last game we played, and lsu typically has similar level of talent to auburn. We lost our best offensive player in the 1q or that game likely would have been a close barn burner.

One important factor most Baylor fans don't realize is one of our biggest off season acquisitions to help with pass defense was Devin turner, safety from northwestern who is now out for the season. My guess is the top thing on both coache's minds is whether Baylor's secondary will get torched by the auburn receivers like they did in their very last game. To me auburn probably needs that to happen to win because Baylor has a more mature running game (and should be solid against run with Keaton Thomas a pre season all American caliber guy) and sawyer is good enough to move the ball if you sell out against the run. We also spent a lot to beef up our dl to help with run defense, including 380 pound Aggie transfer nose guard.

Expect to see a lot of Michael trigg josh Cameron and Ashtyn Hawkins if auburn sells out to stop Washington and sawyer in run game. Sawyer when healthy can take it 40 yards if you don't account for him.

Please Tell us more about these stud wide receivers and dbs if you are so inclined. I would love to know more about what makes them special…

The direction of this thread depends entire on whether the "Robertson suffered a non contact injury and tore his ACL" report is true. If false, it's going to be a game. If true, it's going to be a long day for us. A long season for us actually.

I hope you beat Bama. Always hated those guys.

That was apparently a stupid rumor started by a TCU fan who was mad about the Furry story we posted. One being funny and satire, the other being a really dumb way to try to get attention. There is no other supporting evidence or corroborating reports other than some dorks burner accounts posting a bunch of nonsense

Regrettably, that describes 99% of the public message space on the Internet.

While Game 1s are weird, I'll be interested to see how Baylor's OL/DL compare to what was a lower-middle SEC group last season. Auburn will look to OU's cast-off QB to improve their passing game - which was responsible for throwing several games away last season (including the OU game). I still believe he's got talent. Talent that he couldn't use last year with a hilariously awful Sooner offense.

Baylor +2 seems about right, mostly due to extreme uncertainty on both sides.

Cam Coleman should speak for himself as well as Singleton for the WRs

DBs Jay Crawford and Kayin Lee are the returners who have done well. Transfers Strader and Pleasent have been great at practice apparently (Its just practice so who knows what will happen come game time)

Hate to hear about Turner. Hopefully he can be healthy next year when you guys come visit us!

Just park north of the stadium and walk. The neighborhood looks a bit rough but it isn't. When the stadium was built, the City of Waco made a deal with that neighborhood to let residents charge game visitors for parking. About 80% of the houses closest to the north stadium entrance charge between $20 to $10 for parking and a few will give you a golf cart ride to the stadium. In the block closest to the stadium you can get cold water and sodas for about $2.

If you are sitting on the visitor (East) side of the stadium, bring a hat with visor because the sun will set in your face between 7-8:15 pm. If you are in the north end zone don't worry about it.

The best priced drinks are large HTeaO's for about $3.50 on the East side way down by the South End Zone and video board. Worth the walk. Second level.

Finally, if BU is losing you can just walk over to the 50-yard-line seats and grab any open seat.

I had never heard of cam Coleman but he looks like a problem. 6 tds in last three games. I'm guessing we use Lavar Thornton who is 6 3 and give him a lot of help. This is a guy that looks like he can win a game for you if you don't solve him. Yikes.

Has all the feeling of Baylor vs TCU in 2011, the year RGIII won the Heisman. He wheeled and dealed all night long (I think that was a Friday night as well) to cover for our porous D and we won 50-48. While I don't think our D is as bad as it was then, I'm still not gonna believe we have a secondary who can cover anyone until I actually see them do it. I'm not really confident in anyone we have back there. Arnold will probably throw as many holes through our secondary as Sawyer does your's. But I'm thinking we win the high scoring game by maybe a FG.

My mother's family are from Gadston Alabama and ALL went to Auburn. They now live in Arlington Tx. Great people! I asked them to go to game with me but they bought cruse tickets without knowing about game.

Baylor has a very dynamic offense - well balanced both in running and passing game. Very good QB and 2 RBs.
OL probably one of the best in big 12 with 4 returning starters back.
Defense not so much last year with main problem being DBs and a consistent pass rush. Several portal additions especially at OLB and DB will help hopefully and LB group looks very strong.

Georges is a really good place to go eat and drink bosting the coldest beer in Texas. There are 2 locations in Waco one of which is fairly close to stadium (18th st at I-35) with lots of TVs.

Campus has a bear habitat with a couple or 3 black bears calling it home. They use to go to the games and drink Dr Pepper (which originated in waco BTW)

I went to an Auburn game at Jordan-hare in 2023 when they played New Mexico State and got manhandled by Diego Pavia before he transferred to Vandy. It was a fun time. While Jordan-Hare holds almost double of McLane stadium, the atmosphere will be similar to a non con Auburn game. Tame, chill, calm, a lot of golf clapping. A lot will show up a little late but by end of the first quarter it will be a full stadium and then about middle of 3rd quarter the stadium starts to empty because it's too hot, winning or losing.

My two cents. If Baylor gets their running game going...... it won't be close.. Don't see Auburn with enough punch to keep up with Bears offense.

Sites to see are Mammoth State Park, Cameron Park Zoo.
