Eric morris is interesting…could be the right move
I'm not sold on Kinne, but prefer him over Traylor. Jon Gruden would be a great change of sideline dynamic. Would love to see some emotion. Dabo can't win with 5 star kids…not sure how he will fare with 3 star kids.

About this flat out can coach concept. Morris has has a winning percentage of 54% in 7 years as a HC. He is 15-14 at UNT. It is intriguing as to how that is in the "flat out can coach category".

I'd imagine McGuire was able to sell the program to the boosters, something Aranda hasn't done.

Comparing Baylor's boosters to Texas Tech boosters isn't exactly a 1:1 comparison. Does Baylor have any (multi billion) billionaires sitting around that played football for Baylor?

Not promoting Joey Mcguire, one of the best recruiters we ever had, has turned out to be a more than minor mistake.
To be 100% clear, at this moment in time Aranda is a far more accomplished coach than McGuire is. Full stop. Further, if McGuire wins the conference and a NY6/CFP game this season in order to match Aranda's highs, it will be more of a reflection of Texas Tech booster money than anything else.
Imagine how good Baylor would be if we too had boosters with more money than sense and an almost pathological need to compensate for tiny appendages.

Same thing Jeff Traylor would bring

Interesting. I was more high on him a year or two back but could absolutely get behind him.

I have no idea. But I don't see that as an excuse. You can either sell or you can't.

I wish we had hired Cignetti, granted Indiana doesn't play a tough schedule, but he wins and gets his players to play fast and disciplined.

UTSA has lost to Texas A&M and Texas State. Two teams that would beat Baylor this year.
They were in both games in the 4th Quarter and should have beat Texas state but had 3 dropped balls on the last drive.

Tell that to Oregon, Ohio State, etc. and the opponents that they regularly trounce.

A billionaire is paying people millions to play for Tech. This isn't 2012, 1994 or some other random year of the past the coach did have to sell his program.
The good news is there is regulation of all of this legal slush fund from donors stuff starting next year supposedly.

This is not going to be a good offseason to try and hire a coach.
Arkansas
UCLA
Virginia Tech
Oklahoma State
Are already open
Wouldn't surprise me if USC and Florida join that list by the end of the season.
Not sure if Mark Stoops is wearing out his welcome at Kentucky. But if he is, he might be someone to consider. He is just under .500, but this is at a basketball school in the toughest football conference in the country.
But I agree that Traylor seems like a good hire.
The reality of our program and leadership is that we aren't going to be able to poach a coach from a peer program like Tech.
We are going to have to give a guy at an institution one rung down like UTSA an offer or hire someone who has worn out their welcome elsewhere.
