They remind me of Arizona State. Well coached, quarterback isn't a great passer but moves the chains with his feet, good ground game. It will be a similar game to Arizona State where they try to establish the run and limit the number of possessions our offense gets

They played a good first half but looked like crap in the second. They're not very good on either side of the ball.

We should win, but that doesn't mean a ton. As with every game remaining on our schedule (save maybe UCF), We'll have to play well and execute to come out with the W in that one.

We kinda need to win next week. The next two games at TCU and Cincinnati don't look particularly easy. If we lose to K state at home, we could be feeling pretty rough by the time November rolls around.

Yup… Saturdays is huge. Lose that one and I think the free fall will be underway. Win Saturday and the Bears may finally have momentum headed into Ft Worth. It's a huge game

This game, as you said Iowa Bear, is huge indeed!

I'm glad they had a good game. Beating them while they're moving up will give us more confidence going into TCU. Playing another OSU will not.

I fear the home field scenario with CDA.

When was the last time it was "easy" playing TCU? (Hint: it was sometime before the start of the 21st Century).

Yes, that was a fairly understated post.

Them playing well does nothing for us. If we beat them, no needle is moved. But them playing better only increases our injury risk

i'll chirp a little here to prepare you for saturday from an emaw perspective.

1. getting dylan edwards back for the first time/full time this season was huge because he's the best player on the team. and there's little behind him. he takes a lot of pressure off avery johnson's meh passing game.
2. k-state has been raked by injuries this season. i won't go through the long list but the ucf game were without starting left tackle (probably for the season) and two starting receivers, jayce brown and jerand bradley. the latter likely out for baylor as well.
3. defense is aggressive but oft times porous. ucf gouged them the second half over the top and with their run game.
4. special teams are okay, particularly the kick game, not good/great because the punt receiving group is putrid.
5. i'm not sure what ucf proved? they are clearly a lower tier b12 squad. but it was a get-right game for the cats and brings them to .500 in b12 play. like you, saturday will tell k-state what the season will be going forward. win and watch out. lose and think hoops.

I generally agree, but the same thing that keeps us from ever seizing positive momentum also keeps us from having the types of free falls that completely sink seasons.

Both in game and season, we seem to be allergic to momentum, both positive and negative. It's a very weird dynamic, honestly. But there are lots of weird dynamics in Dave Aranda's program. We're also better on the road than we are at home, which is bizarre.

So to the original point, I agree this is a big game. If we lose it, our ceiling likely drops to 7-5 or 6-6. But in Bizarro Dave Aranda Land, I could see a scenario where we lose to Kansas State at home and beat TCU in Fort Worth. In a program where nothing is predictable, nothing is surprising.

I think y'all had better come to Waco ready to score because from what I've seen of y'all's defense this year, you're going to need to.

Fortunately for you, our defense is pretty easy to score against. But after watching all of the explosives y'all gave up to UCF -- and how much you struggled to get North Dakota, Army and Arizona off the field -- I think our offense is going to feast.

I really hope we bring another safety down. As a fan it's just painful to watch a death by a thousand cuts like auburn was. I also think sometimes we give too much respect to the opposing qb. Our blitzes against Zane Flores were in slow motion like he was going to take off like Lamar Jackson. Watch the film. Also We treated Jackson Arnold like he was going to be dropping dimes on us like Peyton manning. Most of these quarterbacks are very flawed. I just want the ones who aren't elite at passing to have to beat us by passing, rather than make it easy on them. And the ones that can't run we should be blitzing with our hair on fire. I feel like we need to adjust strategy a little more based on the reality of their weaknesses.

How much K-State have you watched this season?

I'm not telling you how to feel. But this is a game we should win. We are more talented than they are this year. If we mess down our legs this week and lose, Aranda's seat should get a lot hotter going into the second half of the season.

This isn't a normal Klieman-coached K-State team. This K-State team is mediocre at best on offense -- though Edwards certainly makes them better -- and is surprisingly bad defensively. They've been a lot like us in being a bend-and-break defense this season, which you don't expect to see out of that program.

I'm not saying we can't lose because I know better than that. But I will be very, very disappointed if we don't take care of business in this game. Our offense will be, by far, the best and most talented unit on the field Saturday morning.

Tmcats, this is better than our defense which is oft time porous with non-aggressive play calling.

Our putrid defense will keep them in the game which will lead to a close loss like the ASU game. I hope I am wrong (and will be in the stands cheering), but I do not feel good about this game.

I definitely think it will be closer than it should be and that we'll struggle to separate because that's just who we are. And when you let teams hang around, you can lose games you shouldn't, so that's definitely possible.

But Kansas State is objectively worse than Arizona State -- and by a fair margin.

This is a team that's ranked 83rd in scoring offense and 78th in scoring defense while playing the 71st toughest schedule in the country.

If we lose this game, Dave's seat should get real hot the second half of the season. This would be a bad loss, especially at home (not that playing at home has been any real advantage for us).

If we lose this game, I imagine we're road dogs the next 2 weeks. If they don't pull a rabbit out of the hat in one of those, could get ugly sitting at 3-5.

Dave needs to win this game.

Would be nice to see us come out angry and dialed in this week, instead of doing our typical "wake up 5 min into the 2nd quarter" routine.

If we lose this game I think it's almost impossible for the season not to be a disappointment. KSU is solid but if you don't win this you are not a big 12 title contender. That means you wasted the senior season of one of your all time best QBs who is leading the country in passing and one of the best dudes to ever wear the uniform. Tackle that Qb and rb and we should win.

Yeah, there's no hedging here. We need to win this game. We're better than they are and we're at home.

A loss would would likely turn the tide for all but the most ardent Dave Aranda supporters that he's capable of getting this program where we want it to be.

This sadly is where I'm at. Until we start actually winning home games against teams worth s crap I just expect a loss. Dave has given me no reason to think BU will come out Saturday ready to play.

We beat a pretty good TCU team and a red hot Kansas team at home last season. We're capable of winning games at home. We just have to execute better (especially in the first and fourth quarters of games) than we have in too many of our close losses.

we've lost more home games already this year then we did last year. we only lost one last year which is crazy to think about.

Eh. That Kansas team finished with five wins. They were probably a bit better than their record suggested, but red hot isn't what I'd call them

They had 3 good wins heading to Waco. But that was still a 5-7 team. At the end of the day you are what your record says you are. Kansas record said they were a mediocre to bad team last season

They had won three straight games over ranked opponents and were favored when they came to Waco last year.

You can't pick and choose when these things matter.

I didn't say Kansas was great last year. But they were absolutely playing their best football of the season -- and some of the best football of anyone in the Big 12 at that time.

And we beat the **** out of them from start to finish in our regular season finale -- something none of the four ranked teams they played in succession ahead of our game did.

Last year's Kansas team was better than the Kansas State team we're about to face. Likely considerably so.
