Rhule developed far better all-round football players than Briles ever did. Rhule's players lasted in the pros, Briles' players mostly all bombed except for Andrew Billings.
Of the players drafted during Rhule's tenure, only James Lynch is still in the NFL. Giving him credit for Tyquan might be fair i guess, but arguably Thornton developed more under Grimes in one year than he did under Nixon in two.
While they were Rhule's recruits, Pitre & Bernard give Aranda plenty of credit for getting them NFL-ready. Especially Pitre...who Phil Snow played out of position with too much weight.
(for the edification of others: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Baylor_Bears_in_the_NFL_draft )
I love how you cut it off at Rhule's tenure. Jalen Pitre? Terrell Bernard? Are you going to really claim that was Aranda's work.
Did you not read my whole post or are incapable of understanding what I wrote?
They had two years with Aranda - just as much time as with Snow, and both have publicly credited Aranda with their development. He moved Pitre to his natural spot and had him slim down from the over-bulk Snow insisted he build up for a position he didn't need to be playing.
Furthermore, '21 doesn't happen without Aranda bringing in Apu, Doyle, Gall and Estrada, or without moving Abram Smith to RB. Giving Rhule the bulk of the credit for '21 is a dumb take usually driven by Aranda Derangement Syndrome. Sorry if that upsets you.
I read it just fine, that's how I know you're full of BS. At this point, it's obvious that you just don't like Rhule because you're a total Stan for Art Briles. If you'd just admit that instead of making these laughably cringe posts of yours, you'd save yourself a lot of trouble.
Doyle? Oh please, he was little more than a rah-rah guy. Big liability in the passing game. No OC game planned around him. What about Estrada? He started five games. Yes, Aranda brought over Apu, that's pretty much Aranda's biggest contribution. If Aranda was supposedly so great, then why has he been unable to build a good defense on his own? Why is the team so fundamentally unsound? You can't have it both ways.
"laughably cringe" ok sure lol - do you read the things you type yourself? Pretending Estrada wasn't a big part of our running game success via his excellent blocking just makes you look like a casual, and calling Doyle "little more than a rah-rah guy" cements it - he wasn't excellent in coverage but he was a run stuffing machine and his stats showed it.
We're "fundamentally unsound" because a bunch of lowerclassmen and backups have been pressed into service as we've experienced a cascade of injuries started with losing Devin Turner. We've also lost Barnes & Jackson for the season, two transfers who were primed to contribute (Barnes was our starter!). Jackie and Tez have both been dinged up for much of the year, and Carl Williams has been out for most of the season.
I've said more than once that if Dave was willing to politick with the media and more importantly boosters, he very may well have had the NIL support to build more depth in the offseason and we'd be 6-0. As it is, we're 4-2 with losses to an Auburn squad that is better than its 3-3 record indicates (their losses are two by 7pts and one by 10pts, all three to teams ranked #11 or better at the time at the time), and ASU who still looks to be one of the best teams in the league when they have Leavitt at full health.
And yet
my posts are laughable cringe? Let's check back in tomorrow afternoon.
