The only thing I can relate it to was when I'd walk home from elementary school. We always went past a yard with a yapping dog. We'd all throw imaginary sticks or imaginary balls and watch that dumb mutt go nuts chasing stuff that wasn't there. He'd never shut up and always predictable behavior.

Comparing one to Mark Adickes is not fair. I could not hold his jock. I doubt very many of you could if you tried to match his career after football.

However, I'm very comfortable and satisfied with my chosen profession, my performance in my chosen field of work and that my glory days was simply me doing what I was asked to do. I never considered anything past 1985 (when I left a game) as me struggling. I was done. Broken down yet content that I did the best I could with what I had to work with.

You are correct in that it was a daze but very, very little glory.

I've had a very blessed life. I give thanks often for what I experienced, who I still hang with from Baylor who were not athletes and for my wife which equals 3 great kids and so far 5 grandkids. I'm still feeling blessed.

Example: One of my 1980 teammates and I pulled together a Peach/Cotton Bowl Reunion this past Saturday in Waco. Even though it was Thanksgiving week and conceived about a month ago we had 61 players come in for fellowship & old men bonding. We are doing this every year until none of us are left. In attendance were around 20 All-SWC performers, 13 NFL draft choices and a couple of All-Pro players. 2 coaches came too. Great times.

This was reunion #1 for men who are 65-69 years old. One attendee has had 4 knee replacements and 12 other surgeries.

You boys can put a million negatives in front of me and it will never have any impact on me or my days past and days to come.

George's must not be as crazy as it used to be. Also, look at my previous posts in the Waco section. I am a beer enthusiast. Also, before The became a minister I did plenty of wild things including going to Mardi Gras, so it is not like I don't know what it is like.

I choose to not support strip clubs because I don't like the impact it can have on the entertainers and the consumers. If you want to go, knock yourself out. Choosing not to go to strip clubs is a far cry from being a holier than though person. I know atheists that choose not to go to strip clubs.
