Tcu was 2-7 in SWC play and 1-10 overall. Tech was 3-4 in conference and 5-6 overall. TAMu was 4-4 in conference and 7-5 overall. TU was 7-5 overall and 4-4 in SWC.

Damn - some of our guys are incredible on statistical history. Thanks

As we've been reminded of many times, "Briles Derangement Syndrome" is real.

When you play for a team and love that TEAM and you make a 4 year commitment to the school and care about the school's reputation and history, and you leave that school in better shape than when you stepped foot on campus, you tend to harbor hard feelings for the person who openly talked about leaving for our biggest rival, obviously did not enforce discipline amongst his "bad dudes" and others, taunted sports writers and allowed his players to taunt other team's coaching staff, etc.

Art feathered his coaching nest with ****. It is only appropriate that he be held responsible and have live in it for a while.

Derangement? I rarely think about him. I just can't help but getting a kick out of you guys busting your knee caps over and over and over and exposing you all for waht you truly suffer from.

Here are the exact issues we've all seen exhibited by nearly every single one of you Chief Apologists:

Increased stress & emotional volatility: Devotion to a coach can lead to intense stress, irritability, and anger, particularly when the team performs poorly or the coach faces criticism.
Loss of self: Extreme identification with a coach can blur the lines between the fan's own identity and the coach's successes and failures. This can lead to a sense of losing oneself in the process of worship.
Cognitive dissonance and defensiveness: Fans may struggle to reconcile their positive view of the coach with any negative news or actions, leading to a reluctance to accept criticism or acknowledge missteps. They may feel pressure to defend the coach's every move, even when something is clearly wrong.
Unhealthy coping mechanisms: Intense emotional investment can lead to addiction-like behaviors, such as obsessive watching and an inability to detach, particularly when dealing with losses.
Social and interpersonal issues: This level of devotion can sometimes lead to social dysfunction, aggression, and an inability to maintain healthy relationships outside of the context of fandom
A sense of distorted reality: The intense devotion can create an illusion of control where fans feel they are responsible for a coach's success or failure, leading to self-blame and other forms of psychological distress.
Impaired judgment: Fans may have a hard time seeing their favorite coach through a critical lens, which can make it difficult to recognize or respond to troubling behaviors in a healthy way.

You left out the ass kicking by Bama and the L to powerhouse San Jose. You also beat 6 teams with losing records. Let's not pretend like your team ran some gauntlet

I've admittted the SWC was up and down that season. More down than up. We stood head & shoulders above all conference foes.

2013? Baylor lost 17-49 to a 3 loss (OU, WV & Missouri) Oklahoma State team and gave up 594 yards

2014? baylor lost 27-41 to a 7-6 West virginia team giving up only 456 yards. Not bad considering they gave up 712 to Texas Tech and 807 yards to the 2012 West Virginia team.

How do Big 12 conference champs lose by 32 to a 3 loss team?

How do Big 12 conference Co-Champs lose by 14 to a 7-6 West Virginia that finished 5th in the conference?

I didn't think so. Chess? Monopoly?

Toss up

Greyhounds finished 3-8.

Bears 5-6 likely to be 5-7.

I'll go with Greyhounds next season with a better record.

Here is one for you...................Portales has one of the highest crime rates in the nation with 33 per 1000 residents.

How many percentage points will the Portales crime rate go up after the new ENM staff hits the Transfer Portal? How many points after 1st recruiting class hits campus?

Doak, just to add one point regardless of how people feel about Art or the opportunity at ENMSU. Only a few people ever get a second chance to do what they love. I hope he does well, and I stand by that.

I mentioned my uncle only because his background is relevant. H. R. Jefferies spent his career in Texas public education, including early coaching at Rule, and Art brought him up on his own when we spoke. He spoke of HR with real respect, and he was genuinely courteous to my wife, which I appreciated.

As to Portales, and simply to correct the record, current FBI UCR data places Portales at approximately 38.48 crimes per 1,000 residents, and Waco is closer to 48.35. Portales has the higher violent-crime rate, and Waco's overall rate is driven by property offenses. Keeping it straight for people who more than likely have no voice in this world.

Please create an "Art's Excellent ENMU Adventure" subsection, so that all of our many Art Briles fans can congregate there.

Art finally has his second chance, and all of his fans finally have a chance to support him as an active head coach again.

I say we support that...by creating a safe space for them. All of the rest of us promise we'll never bother them at all - they can sing his praises and curse Baylor to their hearts' content in their own place to call home.

Win/Win!

Safe space ? for who ? I bet the number of fans who like Art is 10 to 1 to those who do not. It might be just you and Thee left to message each other.

Disclaimer...I was one of the harshest critics of the BOR back on BaylorFans when everything went down in 2016. So keep that in mind as you read my comments below.

I don't think it is a case of not liking Art. Yes, he got dumped on, but it was in his power to have prevented the situation on the football side if he would just have kept a closer finger on what was going on with his players. When you say something along the lines of yeah, there are some bad dudes, it screams that you knew something was not as it should have been.

Fling away, but that mess could have been prevented with just a little bit closer eye. But that is the way it was back then. I remember seeing a clip of Nixon associated with the Watergate fiasco. He made the comment about how "they changed the rules". He was right, the stuff that went on then had been done before by Presidents of both parties for decades and no one cared. Our current political environment over the last decade of so has been the same way. Politicians get away now with things that would have been career enders in the past.

Art was not doing anything that Stoops, etc. probably hadn't done, but the environment changed and Baylor was the first to have to steer a path based on the "rules have changed". But even with that, the coach still didn't have the pulse of what his players were getting into, at least I hope he didn't yet still let it go on.

I still have an autographed ball by Art in my bookcase that I won at one of the preseason banquets. So, I have no ill will towards Art, I am just disappointed that if he would have just paid a little more attention, he probably could have avoided the disaster that ensued because he wouldn't have had players that were remotely involved. as they would have already been kicked off the team.

Glad he got another chance, but he wasn't going to stay at Baylor much longer IMO. Playing footsie with UT to the extent of screwing our Fiesta Bowl prep told me that loud and clear. Wish him well, but couldn't care less about ENMU.

Quite sure few , if any on this message board are interested in ENMU either, but that does not keep anyone who loves Baylor from being interested in Art's outcome. This does not diminish any Baylor fans desire to see Baylor be successful.

Alot of us like to watch fun, winning football, and that's what Art brings wherever he is. If you live and die with just Baylor. It means you Die. I suggest that everyone find a way to enjoy football season. The Bandwagon is very comfortable and stress free. Go Greyhounds.

No need to remind anyone. You all know. It was 45 years ago to be more precise.

You remember.

The first Baylor team to win 10 games during an era when there were only 11 games.

A defense that gave up only 7 TDs in the entire conference games instead of 10 in one f'ing game!

A defense that held 4 teams to under 175 yards of total offense.

A defense that held TCU to 16 yards of rushing O.
A defense that held Texas Tech to -36 yards of rushing O. Yes, minus 36 yards.
A defense that held UT to 35 yards of rushing O. That was on 40 carries.
A defense that held A&M to 92 yards of rushing O.

As Donald likes to say.............."you haven't seen anything like it in the history of the world!

True Baylor fans give a ****. That team went 8-0 in conference play. Nobody tied us. We didn't have to pray for another team to win so we could be called conference champs.

Yet somehow you let the 3rd place team in the mighty Pacific Coast Athletic Association bend you over and have their way with you, rendering everything else you did moot. SMH : (

We had to help San Jose beat us.

4 interceptions
2 fumbles
Kicker out injured and we missed field goals from the 6, 22 & 24 yard lines

Baylor jumped out to a 15-0 lead and the 2nd team went in the 2nd Q to play at least 1/2 the game due to Arkansas coming in the following week for Homecoming and very little respect for San Jose States team. We misjudged them.

Homecoming = 42~15 Bear slaughter. Both Hog TDS were gifts. We fumbled on our own 1 and our punter, kicking out of our end zone, kicked the ball into our upback and Arkansas recovered for a TD.

Upsets happen. Every weekend. We were not prepared, we had too many turnovers, subs should not have played until 4th Q. Never mind that SJS had 3 first round draft choices on that team.
