The worst part is that we brought this on ourselves.

I missed the part where you only support your team when they're doing good. Baylor football has been thru much worse multiple times yet people are bailing like rats off the Titanic. Dear Lord today's world is so f'ed up.
Sic'em Bears!..........forever & always.
You can tell the people who have never competed in a sport in their life. That's the life lesson sports teaches you.. sometimes you get kicked down but you still get up and compete.
No one is more pissed than me in our situation.. I've seen people on here say they hope we lose every game next year.
As I watched Caden Knighten on a backboard lying motionless on the field I thought about those people. You're not turning your back on Mack Linda or Dave but those kids who bust their ass from June to December for our entertainment.
It's pure selfishness to be WISHING for us to return to the Steele era.
Whoever puts the jersey on next year deserves our support. No matter who's coaching.
Do kindly get over yourself. There's bad times, and then there's self-inflicted wounds and gross incompetence. I'm not wasting my precious free time on a program that clearly doesn't care, or even know they're doing.
I stopped watching Baylor football after the TCU loss. If there was any game that defined Aranda's ineptitude, it was that loss.
I watched every game of Matt Rhule's 1-11 season. I knew that Baylor team was a team that was progressively building towards a better future. What's going on next season? This ain't that. We have recruits fleeing with the season over for less than 24 hours.
So spare us the true fans BS.

Welp, all bad news.
Trying my best to look at the less schiffy side. Just hoping that there will be a little trickle-down effect where we catch a few falling crumbs, some 3 star guys that got replaced by our higher ranked recruits and others.
At least maybe get a top 40ish class, it could be somewhat tolerable. Portal needs to be slam dunk, especially for some big dude defensive guys.

We've already dropped to the 70s in just 24 hours. Going to be difficult to recruit guys to play for someone who will be gone next season. It's going to come down to overlooked three star guys who just want a scholarship anywhere.

That's another problem with society. Taking things out of context and only hearing what you want to hear.

You really don't know how to argue or convince people.
insult, claim victimhood, insult, possibly spew some opinion along the way.
Instead try some data and analysis.

Don't mistake for pollyanna. Just trying to figure out the best possible, or less schiffy, outcome from a massive pile of crap that Baylor dumped on itself.

What Baylor will be for the next 3-5 years at least. OSU was decisive and knew that they had to make the changes that they did. We have a university president who honestly believed that retaining Aranda for another year would somehow ensure roster stability. There's just no cure for that kind of incompetence, except for removing Linda Livingstone.

Right. Her comments only confirm her suspected incompetence. Nice lady from what I can tell but she's not equipped for the role.

I think there is a non-zero chance that the answer is really bad.
I've already had a couple of buddies that I've had season tickets with for over 20 years say they are not doing it again next year.
Certainly does not feel like it has been a good use of my time. I'm not sure what I will do, and I've been giving at a pretty high level. For me, it's not so much about the money. It's more about the investment of my time. At a point, it feels like a silly way to spend that much of my time if Baylor doesn't care that much about it and is not committed to it. I could do all sorts of other things with those weekend hours.
I think we may find out next year what the absolute core of the fan base looks like. Unless they pull a rabbit out of a hat, and I'm not sure how they do it, we may get to see the absolute modern nadir of Baylor football support.
There might have been 20,000 people there Saturday. It can go lower.
Edited to add: does anyone have a sense of what interest or support looks like at the real BMD level? I mean, like the founder suite guys and their ilk? The anecdotal info I have on that is not good, but I'm not really in the know there. Is there a next gen of those guys?
Dia del DougO said:
There is not a legit upside to this by any means.
But you take what you have available. Baylor has spots to fill. There are still going to be guys looking for spots, while most are filled up.
Not a good situation by any means. There's no way to make this debacl a net positive, or anything close But we aren't likely to have a 100 ranked recruiting class like some people are thinking.

You may be right, but does everyone really believe if the BMD's [ whomever they really are any more ] told her they wanted both the AD and Aranda gone , and would foot the bill to make it happen, that she would tell them NO ???

I'm concerned that we've disenfranchised so many BMDs that we don't have access to the needed funds.
But I don't know that for certain.

Correct. Not all, but many.
Rhoades was a one person Wrecking Crew in alienating people.
His "I know better" routine was well oiled and used continually.
The new AD has many bridges to rebuild……not repair, rebuild.
Linda is cut along similar lines as Rhoades. So it won't be easy.
