As utterly disappointing as this season has been, it's been a fascinating distraction over the last week to watch the drama unfolding in SECland.

Lane "Joey Freshwater*" Kiffin is a total slug, so to a degree this is the Frog (Ole Miss) offering to carry the Scorpion (Kiff) across the River...but good lord the ugliness of these last few hours! Some wild new levels of bull**** coming from Kiffin over the last 24hrs.

There's a provision in the CFP that says a team who loses a key player or COACH can be excused if the committee thinks they will not be competitive.

No offensive coaching staff, how can they filed a competitive team?

It's an effing of this team and university.

The committee said last week a coaching change wouldn't alter a teams seeding. They haven't seen what Ole Miss would look like without him. Therefore they can't use that data point against them

I think I have to agree that they're a lock. The committee is going to find a way to get as many SEC teams in as possible, so unless half the team leaves and there are literally no coaches left on staff then they're in.

In many ways I think LSU feels like they could have been a what Alabama was had Saban not left LSU for the NFL. I think they see this as their chance to secure pole position to be the next generational dynasty in college football. They are wrong. Kiffin is a solid coach and will have success, but he will eventually implode as he always has.

Also, who paid for this? They already owe Brian Kelly $60MM…lane is getting almost $100mm. Crazy times

The founder of Raising Cane's Chicken is the second largest. Todd Graves and Shaq are also big time backers.

LSU was way ahead of the game in fund raising. Back in the early 1960's they created Tigervision. Fans unable to attend games paid for a subscription just like today's Netflix. That led to the Tiger Foundation and now with 100k seating in stadium the large seating for donors and buy in for season tickets create huge cash inflows.

Nevertheless the campus suffers. The state is notorious for turning its back on public education unless it contains football. When you walk on campus you see the deterioration.

Supposedly, LSU is the third highest ranked HC job in NCAA... supposedly. OHSt, 'Bama, not sure where the wHorn$ rank, but if he has success there I'll think he'll be there for a long time. Don't picture him as a fit for OHSt, 'Bama maybe, wHorn$ once again, fit. Time will tell. Anger among many today, success next year most will be forgotten.

Lane Kiffin is a miserable piece of ***** Always has been.

It sounds to me like LSU was complicit. They wanted to lock up Kiffin now regardless of what it did to Ole Miss. If Kiffin wanted the LSU job, he had to take it now even though by all accounts he wanted to continue coaching Ole miss through the playoffs. The Ole Miss Athletic Director told Kiffin to take a hike which is leaving Ole Miss in the position they are in.
