To me the slow pace indicates there really is zero chance of moving on from Aranda this off-season.
I think if there was a sense of urgency about that change we would be moving at a quicker pace to bring someone in.
We're definitely not making a change this offseason. But that's not because it was impossible to do so. It's because we slow play literally everything. Our university is always reactive and displays no sense of urgency whatsoever when it comes to assessing and addressing what should be viewed as pressing personnel matters.
No university that is serious about competing at a high level in football would keep Dave Aranda for a seventh season. And few would have used the logistical challenges of our AD situation as an excuse not to do what so clearly needed/needs to be done.
You may be completely right. I don't have the information to say you are or are not and am not going to speculate or create strawmen as many on this board do.
But a serious question......do you think money is currently available to buy out the current staff right now, pay the salary of a new coach and staff, possibly pay any buyouts needed to free the next coach from his current position and still have money left to pay players (NIL) including the now mandatory payments so a new guy would even have a chance to build a team?
From what I read and hear there is a better chance it is just not there. I don't think anyone at Pat Neff knows enough about the industry to hire a coach on their own. And I don't think it is that good of an idea to just gobble down whatever a head-hunter tells them.
The real concern in my mind is getting an AD that is worth his weight to be able to do so. If they don't find the right AD for this situation, we'll have bigger problems than just who is coaching the football team in 2026 OR 2027. I think it needs to be realized there is NO guarantee the new AD is going to fire DA. The only place that has stated DA will not be here in 2027 is this board and others like it. It hasn't come out of Pat Neff. They have just said the AD will make those calls.
I may personally know I need to do something, want to do something, and potentially will be worse off in the short term if I don't do something, but if I don't have the money to do so, I can't until time allows for some of that expense to be reduced or new sources of revenue found.
Lots of speculation here as to what are the reasons and motivations for what we are seeing.
