Should the B12 withhold revenues until changes are made?

It won't happen because Texas Longhorns are not pulling the strings in this conference anymore.

Burn it all down…fire the coach, make sure he never works again, gut your recruiting class and install a feckless woke leadership who will ensure delicious mediocrity laced with the occasional putrid garbage for years to come. That is the only answer.

Honest question: with the amount of money and NIL involved in college football these days, how long before opposing coaching staffs start setting up honeypot operations against players like intelligence agencies do?

well regardless of whether that happens or not, now that goldiggas know that these young men have major cash already, the number of guys getting targeted the way Shawn Oakman was will increase dramatically.

Might be a little tough to make those quick cuts wearing that ankle bracelet.

These simple questions should be asked, and answered:

1. Did any coach, administrator, employee or anyone else associated with BYU with a duty to report know of allegations against Kingston prior to the 2025 football season?

2. Has Kingston been suspended from the university and/or the football program?

3. Has BYU reached out to Baylor for the names and phone numbers of the lawyers Baylor hired to investigate this, which will include obtaining phones, email records, etc.?

Of course, #3 is a sarcastic joke. No one other than Baylor would be so stupid. Yes, other universities have hired outside counsel in times of stress, but other than Baylor, they generally hire very "comforting" counsel who know what to investigate and what to avoid.

My guess is that BYU will have learned from the Baylor debacle.

Investigation began 1 year ago? Is that a typo?

Right?

It took them 12 months to bring charges?

That makes no sense

Kingston is white so BYU does not have to worry about racist BOR members jealous of the success of Briles, whose teams would extinguish their 15 minutes of fame.

A BYU fan (and employee)'s perspective here:

-QB Retzlaff was sued in civil court, but his accuser agreed to dismiss with prejudice as soon as Retzlaff claimed he had text messages disputing her story. Even still, Retzlaff conceded he had consensual pre-marital sex (against the honor code), and he was suspended 7 games. He didn't want to sacrifice half the season, so he transferred.
-Back in 2011 Brandon Davies was the starting center on the #3 ranked basketball team, and he confessed to consensual, pre-marital sex. He was suspended for the rest of the season, but he was welcomed back the following year.
-Jamal Williams was suspended for a year due to an honor code violation (2015), then came back to become the school's all-time leading rusher.
-Kyle Van Noy had his admission to BYU delayed a full year after a DUI, allowing him to get his life right before coming to BYU. He credits Coach Mendenhall for the tough love, rescinding his admission then bringing him back after he learned his lesson.

History shows that BYU does not sweep things like this under the rug. Rather, BYU will work with the student and leave it to his bishop (or other ecclesiastical leader for non-LDS students) to determine repentance and sincere commitment to the rules. If you mess up, there's accountability, but there's also grace and patience with human frailty. You may be suspended, but you'll be welcomed back after getting your priorities straight. And they'll try to keep it confidential to not embarrass the student, something that is near impossible with athletes.

BYU may have known that Kingston engaged in pre-marital sex (he claims it was consensual), and he may have experienced some sanctions as he worked through private repentance with his ecclesiastical leaders. It would not be at all surprising if that happened away from the media or anyone else before last season even began. I highly, highly doubt that a university that doesn't allow coffee on campus would allow a known rapist to play.

If Kingston is guilty, may he go to prison for a long time. If it was indeed consensual as he claims, then I hope that both the young woman and Kingston can move forward without this dragging them down. It's a rotten situation for all involved, regardless of what happens next in the court proceedings.

In thinking of far less important things, I doubt we'll ever see him in a BYU uniform again.

Sorry but this actually sounds like you are describing a cover up. He may have been sent to a bishop in the church to discuss this and the bishop may have determined he is repentant enough you said? Does BYU not have a Title IX system in place?

Google "BYU police assisted in the investigation"

Not sure yet but it's beginning to appear that BYU police were involved quite a while ago. BYU police and administration are not (yet) commenting.

If it turns out that BYU police knew of the allegations and investigation before last season began and said nothing, we have quite the story and a big problem.
