Baylor football unveiled a new throwback uniform on Thursday, paying homage to the look the Bears sported during the late 1980s to early 1990s. The retro combination will be worn for the Big 12 opener against Colorado on Saturday, Sept. 26, at McLane Stadium.
The throwback features a gold-chrome helmet, green jerseys with a bear claw on the shoulder pads, and white pants, recreating one of the program’s most recognizable looks from its final years in the Southwest Conference and its early seasons in the Big 12.
Baylor had one of the most iconic uniform wardrobes in the country from the early 2010s through 2019. In recent years, the Bears have slowly but surely started bringing back fan favorites, albeit with a slight modern twist.
In 2024, Baylor debuted anthracite jerseys and helmets, and last year, the Bears added a gold-chrome helmet back into the rotation. That trend continues in 2026 with the return of the throwback uniforms.
