The only way I could see Klanderman staying as DC would be if we hire one of these pure offense no defense guys and even then it may not work if the team respects Klanderman more than the HC. The defense we saw last night is better than any staff being considered with the possible exception of Wake Forest or New Mexico…..and last night Baylor was incredible on defense.
Traylor's DC (Jess Loepp) hasn't been good enough to follow him to the Big 12. He's done a solid job by CUSA/American standards, but there's a reason he hasn't been poached the way Traylor's offensive coordinators are on a near annual basis.
With a better program budget, the standards for coordinator quality increase. Loepp can remain on Traylor's staff at Baylor, but he would need to upgrade the DC position, and you can't do much better than Joe Klanderman, who would bring a ton of benefits from a continuity and culture standpoint as well.
