Outside The Lines and ESPN are about to go in on the Michigan State football and men's BBall teams, things could get even uglier than they already are up there. I imagine their response will be watched carefully, and compared to ours.

This might explain why their AD resigned today, despite not really being publicly implicated in the Nassar business.

Wow. It looks like it is going to get uglier.

It's ugly ugly stuff, hope they get deep-sixed by media scrutiny.

When will the calls for their coach to be fired begin? (and never work or speak again)?

Where is Brenda at?

And I'm glad they seem to be messing the whole thing up. They are getting some scrutiny for the fact the president gets to resign and get all sorts of benefits.

I'd put good odds on Dantonio not being their opening-day HC in 2018, based on some of the allegations in the espn article. I wonder, after what happened to us and now them, what kind of avalanche might be building.

It would be just if we were not made the example. Our sin is being no better than most programs in handling this stuff, not for being worse.

You can throw a dart at the SEC or Big 10 and to Austin, Ft. Worth and Norman and find comparable grime under the table to what our fired regime did.

As the prosecutor in the Nassar case said, "we need investigative journalism now more than ever."

As painful as it is to hear these things about your own school, if the news isn't leaked, sadly nothing ever changes.

I agree 100% He has had issues with players and sexual assault and has brought in a kid that had sexual assault issues in high schoolhe's been under the radar nationally... that is obviously change now.

I would be surprised if he lasted another month.

What am I missing here? Everything in that audio involved football coaches being put on notice about sexual assaults in the late 90s-early 00s. Dantonio wasnt at Mich St until 2007. This would be like firing Briles because some of Steele's assistants were told things and Steele did nothing about it.

There's more info in the article. It's quite lengthy.

Michigan State also has a McLane stadium (baseball). I wonder how he feels about his other alma mater taking a media beating.

Will MSU release their recruits that just signed?

Will the social justice warriors in Austin demand they do so?

If you think little Baylor and Big MSU are the only places that have these issues, you are completely crazy. In the long run, Note so far that ESPN's rage (and investigative efforts) have been limited to schools that it does not have a financial interest in propping up (Baylor - FOX, MSU - BIG Network). We'll see if they have the nerve and integrity to go after SEC. You know this stuff is happening there.

Good post Milli. Yep.

Bet you could easily add Fort Worth and Lubbock to that list, probably both Kansas schools as well.

So just like the Cotton Bowl...they have to come along at the end and out do us....we have sexual assault issues in our football program...then they raise the bar with sexual assault issues in football, basketball, and gymnastics.

Disagree, those schools just have a far greater ability to handle and make these things go away. See e.g. the Alabama players caught with drugs and guns in a car that had the charges dropped because the judge thought it was unfair to expect them to be well behaved when they had to spend so much time outdoors under the hot sun all the time.

Insider tip to MSU.... when BT comes to visit your campus keep the wide receivers coach away from her

If I was a journalism professor and I wanted to undertake a massive project I'd start filing public record requests for the past 10 years for every city where there's a big ol state school. Then start cross checking names for athletes over that same time.

All this stuff that the otl reporter uncovers is right there in the public files. It'd be a lot of work but that's what students are for. And lemme tell ya something. Our neighbors to the north and south would be choking on their own duplicitous and hypocritical vomit.

Using words like "culture" is a lazy way to smear everyone.

Selfishly, I'm glad the witch burners have another target.

Sexual assault (especially of the varieties largely being debated here) happens often and everywhere, especially among college kids. Addressing that difficult truth in a productive way isn't nearly as fun as picking out one targeted school to pile on and scorch all earth around it. I'm waiting for the exposes on UT and Bama.

MSU is a huge state school with just as much power as Michigan, they've been natty title contenders here and there over the years, they're not exactly Texas Tech, truthfully they're not even A&M, they're more like Auburn is to Bama.

Notice how BT hopes there is a "massive list of people being fired" rather than hoping that any wrongdoing is confined to as few people as possible.
