What is the deal is there a state law that the Regents have to post 10 days notice of a specially held meeting or something? Is that why absolutely nothing has been done about the HCs at this point? I assume without an AD and with a brand new interim Pres, no one filling in as President or AD wants to jump in and take that on. Izzo and Dantonio clearly arent going to resign and make the situation easier like the AD did.

Well Izzo may be a poor representative, who knows what he actually said, but he at least rejected BT's effort to blackmail his program last year.

She was close with OU and their program had up to 50 assaults reported. What she does has no affect.

It's a state school however, so Regents can be removed by external forces there. They have that going for them. I would assume the BOR is also under investigation by the special prosecutor as well there based on what the Michigan A.G. said.

If you think little Baylor and Big MSU are the only places that have these issues, you are completely crazy. In the long run, Note so far that ESPN's rage (and investigative efforts) have been limited to schools that it does not have a financial interest in propping up (Baylor - FOX, MSU - BIG Network). We'll see if they have the nerve and integrity to go after SEC. You know this stuff is happening there.
Except Disney just acquired the Fox networks in a deal with Murdoch. Fox and ESPN are all under the same parent company now. It is why ARod can do Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN and still work as a commentator for FOX during the post-season. They technically aren't "competitors" anymore
Disney only got the regional sports networks. The Fox Network and the other national channels (Fox News, Fox Business, FS1, etc.) will remain independent.

They should get the thoughts of Wilt Chamberlain as well to really compete the "sexual integrity" and "role model for sexual issues" side of things.....

Technically isn't he still in the HIV stage and not full blown AIDS?

He is part of the reason I have said on several threads on the R& P board that HIV/AIDS is an after thought in Today's world. In the 80s and 90s it was constantly sold as a death sentence/ scare tactic to not have unprotected sex, there were campaigns, ads, marches, etc ALL the time with lots of media publicity. Now they still have those but it gets a minor mention in the paper, quick middle of the show mention, etc.

I remember as a freshman in 1991 having to watch a video about unprotected sex and HIV/AIDS while in English class in Carol Science. I guess Baylor wanted to scare everybody then and chose the English class to do it since that class was required.

I remember I was in the kitchen of my apartment my sophomore year trying to repair my mountain bike when my roommate came in and told me the news. Mindblown.

Exactly...I love how he holds up Nick Saban as a "great man." My gut says if OTL set up shop in Tuscaloosa they would find more than enough to fill a few episodes.

Everybody and their mother has realized Briles can never say anything in his own defense unless he wants to open himself up to lawsuits while the only income he will receive will be social security. He seems like an easy target for any agenda really.

If OTL had the guts to set up shop in Tuscaloosa, it could be the longest running weekly documentary in the history of Television.

As someone already mentioned hasn't Saban actually been implicated perhaps not by name yet in the Mich St scandal? The part involving football there occurring in the mid/late 90s. I suspect Sabans name will come up more as things develope in East Lansing.

Y'all know I work in Higher Ed and have a different perspective on this (along with a few others on the board).

This is just getting started. MSU ****ed this up in a way that will make every single decision made by Baylor look like geniuses.

They took the same cynical approach many thought we should have.

It is sincerely just getting started.

Art said plenty via Cannon. Fed the minions the scapegoating BS that they ate up like potato chips.

When the stakes increased and a real court with statements on the record was getting closer - he dropped his lawsuit and shut up.

He had a big stage with no NDA repercussions all ready for him to speak .... thought it best not to get up on it

Thing is, if it weren't for the Larry creep getting away with abusing young girls for 30 years, we would not be hearing about football and basketball right now at MSU, as they would just blend into the many other cases that are rampant on all college campuses in America. Sure they might get a mention, but not the Baylor treatment.

For Penn State it took a multi-decade pedofile, with free campus access for them to get attention, for MSU it took a multi decade pedofile, with free campus access for them to get them attention.

For Baylor they were plunged into the fire, from the same type of activity that goes on at every campus in America, young folks go out, or get together, get drunk, get wild, get into situations that end up being assault or alleged assault, then people who are ill equiped, or not equiped at all to handle the situation, predictable botch the situation. That happens everywhere.

Quote:

The growing backlog of federal Title IX investigations into colleges and universities has now topped 300, but many people, including students at the schools under scrutiny, aren't aware of those reviews.
As of Wednesday, there were 246 ongoing investigations by the U.S. Department of Education into how 195 colleges and universities handle sexual assault reports under the gender equity law.
A Freedom of Information Act request by The Huffington Post revealed another 68 Title IX investigations into how 61 colleges handle sexual harassment cases. This puts the total number of Title IX investigations officially dealing with sexual harassment at 315. (Under civil rights statutes, sexual assault is defined as an extreme form of sexual harassment.)

What happened at Penn State and MSU does not.

Funny how you say this, but it was likely those very NDA repercussions that made pursuing a case against individual regents problematic.

What happened at MSU is 1,000 times worse than what happened at Baylor. They had an employee molesting hundreds of women for decades. If that had happened here, I can't even imagine how bad the fallout would have been. And then we likely would have ended up with ETBU's athletic department.

The onion will likely get peeled back on what happened with football and basketball, moreso than it did here where it has remained behind the veil other than a few instances and many generalities. But any Baylor person who tries to parallel our situation and theirs isn't being realistic nor doing Baylor any favors.

Just because you say it with conviction, doesn't mean it's true.
