Leslie hammered us pretty hard....he's willing to give GP the benefit of the doubt on this one because of his track record

What is this great track record I keep hearing about??? All I know about are drug rings and woman beaters and resisting arrest and beer thieves.

What's interesting about the Leslie take is that he's willing to let GP off the hook and say the staffers dropped the ball in not digging deep enough.

CAB said he had a system where he was the last to know and implied he wasn't knowledgeable of some of the issues taking place in the program....but he still got hammered for it happening under his watch...but not GP.

Not seeing the consistency....

She has tweeted a few things yesterday and today...but nothing about the TCU situation.

And coming soon, the "BT pocket and purse size contract", purchased by schools in bulk, to put in the freshman goodie bags...

au contraire my friend. The BOR would never overstate things to the Wall Street Journal. They set the bar and no school can come close to it. The BOR gave us the reputation and insisted on cementing it with the WSJ so don't go blaming ESPN or the media. The BOR owns this one.

That is correct the Regents were doing this not the media. They created the scandal.

Maybe the Texas Rangers can head north on 35 when they wrap up shop in Waco. Curious what they would find in Ft. Worth if they lifted the rug up and took a peek.
You remember that huge drug scandal they had some years back? I think about half the football team was dealing. **** (feces) doesn't seem to stick to other schools like it does to Baylor.

I do. I can't recall if they were in the Big 12 back then yet. But yeah. 75% tested positive for pot, QB got tossed off campus only to come back a season later...

Yep the official line was it doesn't matter if Briles knew or not, what matters is he should have known. Same should apply to Patty.

Things look bad, even if GP only knew about Turp punching through the door.

GP - 'Why were you in Las Cruces?'

Turp - 'Visiting girlfriend.'

GP - 'Why did you punch a hole in the door?'

Turp - 'Not because I was fighting my girlfriend or angry.'

GP - 'Hmmmm. Sounds like we are good to go here.'

Briles wrote the book on stupidity in the coaching profession on handling crisis management and was caught lying. Art wasn't smart enough to realize they had his phone texts or outside the lines he was a moron.
I don't expect Patterson to be as stupid as Briles after watching Briles and his former regime ruin their reputations. Briles is damaged goods who shipped off to Italy to run a brain concussion experiments with his new offense.

This gives TCU a chance to dump him, his salary and dump him without him barking about it. You don't have to have a plan to fire the football coach. Occasionally, people tire of lies, dishonesty and a failure to handle his team. Patterson has embarrassed TCU handling this situation. Not everyone is desperate like the blue bloods to let their school get ran by a football coach and program.

I dont think all the blue bloods let the football program run the school either. I think Meyer would have been gone for example if that situation had occurred at Texas or Michigan.

Coach Fran won at TCU.
I think they are definitely thinking about moving away from him. He's not winning enough and has embarrassed them. Even their media hacks like Mac Engel are on the retreat.
They are lucky because the networks will give cover to a guy who follows what they want him to do. It also helps Patty that the Texas athletic director set up this large ring of protection around Patty. I believe Del Conte was already on the CFP and that is good news for Patty.

Doubtful. He can sometimes be a PR nightmare, but he does have a statue on campus (I know, so did Joe Pa...). He has consistently won there for 18 years and made TCU a higher profile team than it had been in decades. I don't think he's going anywhere unless this gets much uglier.
PartyBear

I really do not think anyone at TCU wants to fire Patterson or has plans to do so even if they dont want to. In short it isnt happening. Based on what has come out so far, I dont think there is enough reason to over this player's issues. Now obviously there can be alot more that hasnt come out that the administration or Regents there know about. They can also always fire him for not winning enough at anytime. I doubt seriously they are stupid enough to think they are not winning enough under Patteson just because one season that is somewhat down so far. As someone said no one has won at TCU since 1958 in a major college football league. Fran was at TCU for only 3 years and in the WAC.

He's not winning enough? It's been a whole 10 months since TCU finished a season ranked in the Top 10. 3 Top-10s in the last 4 years. Only by Alabama, Clemson, or Ohio State's metrics is that not winning enough.

Probably not enough to endure this hit alone but Gary has Del Conte on his side (he was involved in TCU's covering things for years) and the most important thing - the owners of the CFP like him.
It is amazing how differently the CFP owners treat you when you listen to them and respect them. The networks are the reason these coaches get these overpaid salaries. If these coaches aren't smart enough to keep them happy or start things with the conference folks who help the coaches make money, then the coaches best get ready for things to get worse.

Del Conte was the athletic director at TCU. He's at Longhorn and Longhorn 10 is our conference.
Unfortunately, Patty has more friends outside TCU to take care of him.
You ll look like a ****** if you believe ESPN won't take care of those they like. See Ohio State.
Patty took care of those in charge.

So TCU doesnt have control over the hiring and firing of their HC? ESPN controls that and controls Baylor as well for that matter since you have said ESPN ordered the firing of Briles. That is as wild as the R&P board conspiracy theories.

There are people inside the TCU camp that want Fatass fired.
Right now, they don't have the funds to pull it off nor a majority.

The only way he survives if TCU fades the media heat.
So far, only the cripples at the Star Telegram seem to care and they ll shut up because the need to cover a winning program. Writing about losers in sports pages doesn't sale papers.
ESPN hasn't seemed to care one bit.

A west coast NFL job or college? I can't think of a PAC school on the coast that will have an opening.

Also if true. His own alma mater may be open within a year or so from now
