au contraire my friend. The BOR would never overstate things to the Wall Street Journal. They set the bar and no school can come close to it. The BOR gave us the reputation and insisted on cementing it with the WSJ so don't go blaming ESPN or the media. The BOR owns this one.SigTauBear said:
The irony is there are more documented cases of player misbehavior at TCU than at Baylor. Yet we get the reputation and the ESPN rants and Patterson gets a tsk tsk.

That is correct the Regents were doing this not the media. They created the scandal.

What's interesting about the Leslie take is that he's willing to let GP off the hook and say the staffers dropped the ball in not digging deep enough.
CAB said he had a system where he was the last to know and implied he wasn't knowledgeable of some of the issues taking place in the program....but he still got hammered for it happening under his watch...but not GP.
Not seeing the consistency....

I do. I can't recall if they were in the Big 12 back then yet. But yeah. 75% tested positive for pot, QB got tossed off campus only to come back a season later...

Briles wrote the book on stupidity in the coaching profession on handling crisis management and was caught lying. Art wasn't smart enough to realize they had his phone texts or outside the lines he was a moron.
I don't expect Patterson to be as stupid as Briles after watching Briles and his former regime ruin their reputations. Briles is damaged goods who shipped off to Italy to run a brain concussion experiments with his new offense.
This gives TCU a chance to dump him, his salary and dump him without him barking about it. You don't have to have a plan to fire the football coach. Occasionally, people tire of lies, dishonesty and a failure to handle his team. Patterson has embarrassed TCU handling this situation. Not everyone is desperate like the blue bloods to let their school get ran by a football coach and program.
Dennis Franchione would take issue with that question.Baylor3216 said:xiledinok said:boognish_bear said:

Do you think Tcu is looking to dump the only coach that has won there since 1958?
Coach Fran won at TCU.Baylor3216 said:xiledinok said:boognish_bear said:

Doubtful. He can sometimes be a PR nightmare, but he does have a statue on campus (I know, so did Joe Pa...). He has consistently won there for 18 years and made TCU a higher profile team than it had been in decades. I don't think he's going anywhere unless this gets much uglier.Baylor3216 said:

He's not winning enough? It's been a whole 10 months since TCU finished a season ranked in the Top 10. 3 Top-10s in the last 4 years. Only by Alabama, Clemson, or Ohio State's metrics is that not winning enough.xiledinok said:Coach Fran won at TCU.Baylor3216 said:xiledinok said:boognish_bear said:

I think they are definitely thinking about moving away from him. He's not winning enough and has embarrassed them. Even their media hacks like Mac Engel are on the retreat.
They are lucky because the networks will give cover to a guy who follows what they want him to do. It also helps Patty that the Texas athletic director set up this large ring of protection around Patty. I believe Del Conte was already on the CFP and that is good news for Patty.
Probably not enough to endure this hit alone but Gary has Del Conte on his side (he was involved in TCU's covering things for years) and the most important thing - the owners of the CFP like him.Nick Nolte said:He's not winning enough? It is amazing how differently the CFP owners treat you when you listen to them and respect them. The networks are the reason these coaches get these overpaid salaries. If these coaches aren't smart enough to keep them happy or start things with the conference folks who help the coaches make money, then the coaches best get ready for things to get worse.

So which is it. You are saying both that Patterson will be fired because TCU wants to do this and that also he wont be because of your TV network conspiracy theories working to protect him-- the same cabal you say is saving Patterson that you have repeatedly said had Briles fired.
This is true. Heard from someone yesterday that said Patterson will almost certainly be putting his name in the running for a certain west coast job after the season is over.TellMeYouLoveMe said:
There are people inside the TCU camp that want Fatass fired.
Right now, they don't have the funds to pull it off nor a majority.
But give it time, anything can happen.
