I was at the K State game and thought most of the hip hop played was outdated. This song is from 2018 at least.. good for exactly what you saw.. get a young section hyped up for a moment
It read as a square guy trying to decode evil rap music. And no, not all modern hip hop is about hood life. And agree, some of the popular hip-hop does sell well due to content.Doc Holliday said:
I guess it's funny in the sense that it has 92 million views and it's all about killing people who cross their drug trade lol
I just see it as a play (not necessarily an endorsement) on that lifestyle in similar manner that Scarface the movie for example exhibits.
It's entertainment and it sells really well.
If I was square I wouldn't know about it.Bear8084 said:It read as a square guy trying to decode evil rap music. And no, not all modern hip hop is about hood life. And agree, some of the popular hip-hop does sell well due to content.Doc Holliday said:

Ya'll might be surprised what modern day hip hop music actually is.
It's trap music.
or Gucci clothes.
Companies like Sprite are sponsoring these guys, but the general public has no idea what their lyrics mean because they use new words and phrases.
I agree, it's obsolete.BellCountyBear said:
Honestly don't see the need for a marching band anymore. They were blasting that stuff over them a lot of the time Saturday anyway.
Yes, agreed. Student energy is and has been needed and that music gets them rocking.Derp said:
I was excited to see energy back in the stadium again. Place has been a morgue the past two seasons- keep it up whoever is in charge of the music

My 14yo gets it. But when I got home and told my senior that is considering BU the stadium played Mo Bamba song, she had this look. I told her without the lyrics, .
Let's hope the powers that be let it go, and keep It rocking.

If the BOR or any old timers on here *****ing about Briles teams dancing knew the lyrics...they'd shut down the football program completely this time, chain the gates, and cry for forgiveness in their Sunday school classes this morning.
They plade it at the UT game in austin...the stadium erupted. I told my wife..only at UT. We'd never be able to do that. I was laughing so loud to hear it come on and our team go off.
Look for it to never be played again at Baylor, now that the word is out on the lyrics.

I absolutely love they played the beat.
The lyrics make no sense and are as bad as LSUs "neck" chant.
To see mclane rocking again instead of that baptist morgue was exhilarating.
That is after all what a colloseum is built for. Its not a wake, its AWAKE!

If Sweet Caroline can be a fan favorite anything is possible.historian said:
I doubt it would go over big at a football game but I always enjoy the Great American Songbook performed by Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, Lena Horne, Johnny Hartman, Tony Bennett, Anita O'Day, etc.
As for varied musical selections, some people may be surprised how often classical tunes are played during games by the school bands: O Fortuna from Carmina Burana, the Dies Irae, Night on Bald Mountain, etc. I can think of a few others that might work in certain circumstances.
It's possible that some of the American standards could be adapted to a stadium environment even Mancini's Peter Gunn theme or the James Bond theme.
