On Sunday afternoon, Baylor senior wide receiver Chris Platt announced on his personal Twitter account that he has received a sixth season of eligibility to continue his career on the football field and the track. SicEm365 has confirmed that the plan is for Platt to use his final season at Baylor.

Platt, Baylor’s third leading receiver in the 2018 season, will bolster Baylor’s receiving group for the 2019 season significantly. He will join seniors Denzel Mims, Marques Jones and Pooh Stricklin as the third senior on the roster next fall.

In the fourth game of his junior season in 2017 against Oklahoma, Platt tore his ACL and missed the remainder of the season. Platt used his first redshirt as a true freshman in 2014, forcing him to apply for a sixth year of eligibilty in 2019.

In four seasons at Baylor, Platt has totaled 1,634 yards and 11 touchdowns on 98 receptions, a 16.7 yards per reception average. Platt has also rushed seven times for 45 yards in his career.

Prior to his knee injury in 2018, Platt was averaging 25.1 yards per reception on 16 receptions for 401 yards and five touchdowns.

Wonderful news! He did not have many receptions this year but we know he is talented so it will be nice to see him have another chance to show his stuff.

Here are a few highlights:

This may be the best:

This is great news.

How did this come about? How did he get a 6th year of eligibility?

I hope this means we believe that the OL can block for more than 0.6 seconds.

Hopefully his hands improve to those of a safety.

Sure would be nice if they can find our deep ball w Platt

He's one of the fastest WRs in country....if he retained his speed

Plus he needs to catch the ball better in traffic

Good news all around though

True but it is like getting a top recruit we didn't expect and he bring leadership, experience and known talent.

I like the NCAA's ex post facto application of the 4 game redshirt rule that started in 2018. Applying it to 2017 injuries helps out!
