Mega corporations like Second Baptist and Lakewood and it's ilk are. They are about as much of what Jesus preached as Judas. Since your up there you might recall the biggest fraud of all, Oral Roberts.

But back to the subject at hand, Waco feels as if the "government" pays for the items he listed as if it comes from heaven. It comes from Taxes.

Keep ducking those Tornadoes.

I understand how churches are tax exempt. I was trying to clarify you statement because it was directed at 47 and he's not a tax exempt entity.

As an aside, I would direct your previous post more toward Oral's sun, Richard. He's a snake.

You get what you pay for. Actually, if the government does it (whatever it is), you usually pay more and get less.

Nope. I drive on excellent highways and drink good ol Lake water- both provided by the Federal Government.
I also have an excellent social security plan and Medicare.
All provided by the fed
And just how do you think those facilities were paid for? It sure as hell wasn't donations from your church.
Apparently you didn't read my statement Poopyhead. I said the fed.
Apparently you are the poopyhead. Hint. Taxes pay for government facilities. TAXES. Something your profession evades but the rest of us pay.
Nope. We paid full freight on SS. We were considered self employed.
But TAXES? What the hell are you trying to say?

If you were self-employed then you had extra taxes. And all those wonderful things provided for by the federal government were done so about as inefficiently as possible. You (& all of us) are getting ripped off. Who pays for all the bureaucrats that are more interested in their jobs (& benefits) than in making sure Social Security recipients, Medicare recipients, retired veterans, etc. get what is owed them? Taxpayers. Whatever the govt. does, they first take money from the productive, skim a sizable chunk off the top for themselves, and then dribble out what's left for the proles & plebs. You definitely DO NOT get what you pay for--even if you don't realize it.

11:00 am sucks for everyone. Wherever they play. I am continually surprised that there are people who don't have a rooting interest who will stop down on Saturday morning-afternoon to watch a game.

Eventually half-empty stadiums will have some effect.

Of course the money is taken: taxes are taken from the people under the threat of penalty. Some may be legitimate as is some govt spending--I'm not an anarchist--but our govt today is too big & bloated. Just check out the size of our national debt ($22 trillion & counting). Getting ripped off by the government is NOT one of my responsibilities. And my rights don't come from the government. They come from God. Even Thomas Jefferson knew that.

Let me put it this way: Do you want to live in government housing? Do you eat whatever food Big Brother decides is right for you? Did you go to a private university, Baylor, or a state school like UT, A&M, etc? If you are like most people, the answer is no (except the university part) because the quality of everything the govt. does is usually substandard--although the cost is much higher (the politicians & bureaucrats get their money from somewhere). Universities are an exception for many reasons. The govt doing it better is not one of them. In fact, the governments subsidize all kinds of idiotic things at state schools--misusing our tax dollars.

None of that is the government's responsibility and it certainly is not a criteria of citizenship in the United States. The U.S. is a constitutional republic, not a socialist dictatorship. It often seems to be moving in that direction.

PS: This should scare any American who believes in responsible government:

I used to shoot the UT-OU red river ****show at the cotton bowl nearly ever year, but I stopped requesting it about a decade ago because of the 11AM kickoffs and not wanting to drive through some of the worst traffic imaginable to the stadium through the crack house neighborhoods and being accosted by strangers trying to force you to park in their yard.

It ain't worth it. There are other games going on.

Have you ever tried taking a shuttle/mass transit thing while attempting to carry your financial net worth in equipment weighing about 70 pounds on you?

Not really a good option.

When Baylor and SWC football was run by Texans we sensibly had 8pm kickoffs in September until late October. Then 2pm games. TV ruined that. Starting with our Syracuse game way back in the 60's. They don't care if the stadium is half empty and it's 110 on the field by damn. They have ADVERTISEMENTS. Who needs fans?
Correct. I think it's safe to assume player safety isn't a concern either. Hot in the stands = hot as hell on the field.

Our last two attempts to go to the OU/UT game in Dallas resulted in arriving very late in the first quarter both times.

Southwest Airlines just couldn't cooperate either trip with on time 7am scheduled departures. This game seems like a natural for a 7 pm start but in it's long history I don't think that ever happened in regular season. Now that they've added the phoney Big 12 Championship game I'm not sure what time they played.

Mike Leach's Tweet says it all. It's time for Mike to come back to the Central/Eastern time zone to coach. No fan wants to go to a 9am game in person.

It's ironic the OU AD is the one to complain about network kick off times. OU and UGA were the two idiots that sued to get rights to their tv games and they are now the beneficiaries of 11am kickoffs.

When we say Fox Sports I presume we are talking about Fox Sports, a division of Fox Corp. ie what's left over after the 20th Century Fox sale to Disney and not Fox Sports Network, their regional sports networks initially sold to Disney in the 20th Century Fox deal but which the Feds required Disney to divest because of the potential to chill competition if combined with ESPN and subsequently sold to Sinclair (not the oil company, the largest owner of TV stations in the US). The great thing about McLane Stadium is that it is designed to take advantage of the river so that if there is a wind (& in Texas that can be a big "if"), then it can be refreshing on the hot days.
One thing I can give our leaders credit for.....McLane is designed very well.

At under 50,000 it still looks much bigger. And with the tiers going up it hold sound very well.

When it's rocking it sounds like a 70,000 seat stadium.

It also has lots of shade and was designed to allow tons of air flow.

The open end toward the river can even get a nice breeze some times.

Considering the hot Texas climate....and taking that into account when they drew up the architectural plans.... it might be the best designed stadium in the state of Texas.

Far better than tech, ut, or tcu.

And aggy is a death trap with almost no air flow.

It was made for Texas heat.
