The Baylor Bears have added the Texas Southern Tigers to their 2021 football schedule, per their 2019 football media guide.

Baylor will host Texas Southern at McLane Stadium in Waco, Texas, on Saturday, September 11, 2021. The game will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

Texas Southern competes in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) in the Football Championship Subdivision. The Tigers finished the 2018 season 2-9 overall and 1-6 in SWAC play.

The addition of Texas Southern tentatively completes Baylor's non-conference football schedule for the 2021 season. Baylor is slated to open the season at home against Texas State on Sept. 4 and later host BYU on Oct. 16.

In Big 12 play in 2021, Baylor is scheduled to host Iowa State, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas Tech, and West Virginia and play at Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, and TCU.

Baylor is Texas Southern's second scheduled non-conference opponent in 2021. The Tigers are also scheduled to play at Rice on Sept. 25.

Texas Southern now has games against Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) opponents scheduled through the 2022 season. The Tigers play at Louisiana in 2019, at New Mexico State in 2020, at Baylor in 2021, and at UTSA in 2022.

Baylor is scheduled to open the 2019 season on Saturday, Aug. 31 at home against the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks. Texas Southern opens the season on the same date with a SWAC contest at home against the Prairie View A&M Panthers at BBVA Stadium in Houston, Texas.

Should not you be headed to Florida to find the new BALCO to load your and Briles' boys up for the 2019 season? They look a little small and slow.

Grab a clue, we have a Power 5 on the non conference schedule. We are doing what is asked. It's not TSU, Art's lost buddy and Rice on the menu.

The outrage is right here! I'm speechless. I will never understand this tactic. It is humiliating.

I'll bet it was primarily scheduled to get the Ocean of Soul in Waco

The silliness abounds.

It's fairly common knowledge (or should be) that most of the schedule was made years ago. In Ian's last years at Baylor he arranged some solid opponents for future games. In Mac's first years he has done likewise. The main reason we have a creampuff added late to this year's schedule is because it was late: there were few if any P5's available. We had to take who we could get. This is probably the case with today's announcement. If anyone bothers to look ahead, we have a P5 opponent for each of the next nine years including Ole Miss, BYU, Utah, Oregon, & Auburn. Those are pretty substantial opponents.

https://fbschedules.com/ncaa/baylor/

And don't forget: we have as many creampuffs this year as Alabama and most every other member of the SEC--except ours are all in September. Most of them have one in November.

The same day we play Oklahoma, Alabama plays Western Carolina & Mississippi State plays ACU:

https://fbschedules.com/college-football-schedule/

If you dare, check out the other SEC teams' opponents in November (some of their easy games are other weeks).

This is disappointing, especially for us season ticket holders, many of whom got a royal screwing in reseating. There are lots of good fcs schools to schedule, this is just not one of them - can't compare them to Grambling - Grambling has a winning tradition, and almost always fields a very good team...

This stance doesn't make sense.

Baylor plays BYU (which is being treated as a P5 almost universally across the P5 conferences) in 2021. BYU is beyond a shadow of a doubt a tougher and more well respected regular season out of conference opponent than anyone Baylor played out of conference in the regular season during any season under Briles, Grobe, and in 2019.

Further, Baylor has P5s (or BYU) schedule for every season in the 2020 through 2028 period. Objectively, Baylor's out of conference schedules are not nearly as embarrassing as they used to be.
