My read is Hocutt is backing his new coach here, much like a manager in a MLB game when his player is about to get ejected. The new TT coach is just learning how bad B12 refs are, so take the hit for him.
To be fair I doubt that hardly anyone else's admistration or AD to be specific would have pulled what Hocutt pulled.Bearish said:
Just giving you a hard time.
Hocutt really is a moron, though. Given everything that is going right with TTU athletics, why do that to yourself?
There were plenty of missed calls throughout the game, which we have all acknowledged, but we'd be losing our minds if that particular situation were reversed, and we know it. However, I also think our AD wouldn't be dumb enough to succumb to the demands of the message board/twitter mafia. Oh well. One more reason I'm glad we have our administration and not anyone else's.

For once, I compliment the Big 12.
I wish their statement went further, but I applaud the fact that they issued it and issued a very significant fine against TT's AD.
It's also bad that a former TT chancellor wants to raise money to pay the fine. I guess he worries that the AD will run out of pizza and tortilla money.
I think the sanctioning of Hocutt says enough about the matter in their eyes. They probably take the position that his claims merit no need to respond with a literal statement about the matter.historian said:BearlyBeloved said:

Has the Big 12 issued any official statement to support or counter the Holcut's claim? If not, they should. I would not expect them to throw their own officiating crew under the bus so they should issue a statement clarifying exactly what they did say to him, if anything.
One would hope so. But considering how much they keep moaning & groaning about it (& the media), an absolute statement by the Big 12 of exactly what they did say to Holcut about the matter would be helpful.PartyBear said:I think the sanctioning of Hocutt says enough about the matter in their eyes. ESPN will break-in to let him make his complaint live during the game, instead of having to wait until afterwards.Timbear said:
What's Hocutt going to do when there's a bad call this Saturday?
Well I think it takes care of itself. I doubt BMDs are going to want to have to keep paying for an AD or coach's mouth. 25K isnt much to them nor is it to Hocutt actually but no one wants to be repeatedly nickle and dimed.OsoCoreyell said:
Honestly, the Big XII ought to have a policy about others bearing the cost of a fine they levy against an AD or coach. What is the point of having a fine if it can just be paid by the boosters? We could easily raise $25K to pay a fine and so could all member schools. Basically, this makes a joke out of the discipline of fining. They should fine Texas Tech $250K for proposing to pay Hocut's fine and publicly undermining conference discipline.
My point is that there is no point to the fine if the person it was supposed to deter simply has the deterrence taken away by the institution. If we have to deter the institutions (since they effectively the ones underwriting the bad behavior) then the number needs to be a lot bigger - OR there should be a policy of separate fines when you are found to be covering for a disciplined individual.PartyBear said:Well I think it takes care of itself. Yes. They are proving themselves to be sore losers and not gaining any sympathy (except among a few Iowa State fans).whitetrash said:
As he should do. Tech's continued tantrum at losing one game has already turned into losing a second, let's see if they lose a 3rd saturday evening.
