We love you, Kevin Steele!

As every Baylor fan knows, Kevin Steele is one of the most respected and revered coaches in Baylor history. His tough-as-nails dedication to the program was unmatched. The internal improvements were undeniable. Coach Steele truly knew how to set a tone.

It's in that vein that Baylor fans throughout the world must unite behind Coach Steele and his Auburn defense as the Tigers look to give Alabama its second loss, virtually killing their CFP chances.

So, one more time like we used to do it back in the day: "Go Steele go! Go Steele go!"

Gotta set a tone for the season. Sometimes an embarrassing home loss against one of the worst non-P5 programs is a great motivator for kickstarting a team to begin showing improvements (internally).

The external improvements were obviously on display with the win against Kansas. The goalposts came down, the students were rioting and the players hoisted Coach Steele on their shoulders, carrying him out of Floyd Casey in style

Unfortunately, Mack Brown and Tom Stanton couldn't convince the Baylor BOR to give Coach Steele a few more years.

I believe the phrase you're looking for is "create an attitude."

I agree. Tom Stanton's name should never again appear anywhere on this board.

I think I'm finally past Steele. I'm pretty sure he didn't want to suck. The past can't be changed, and now he's helped us!

If we want to be charitable, we can say that St**le is one of those coaches who can be a competent assistant but never a HC.

Although as a season ticket holder through all four years of his debacle here, I'm more inclined to the theory that 13 year old girls could coach better than him and any success he has at Auburn is due to other coaches on the staff.

I couldn't stand Steele and on either 365 or Baylorfans expressed huge underwhelming feelings about the hire when it was announced. I could see the disaster coming. That all said I think I'm actually in the same place you are. I'm finally past that entire era. It took a long time I admit but I have noticed recently I am past that era now finally. I'm happy for his contribution to today's accomplishment for Auburn.

Evidently Steele is mellow as can be these days. Spends all off-season at his sweet lake house and smokes a lot of green.

I never want him within 250 miles of Waco again, but I harbor no ill-will for the man anymore.

Me too. I shared Kevin Green's feelings. I wanted to strangle the BOR of and Steele the night he was hired.

I actually think it would not be insane for someone else to give him another shot. I would think it interesting potentially not a good idea but not necessarily insane now with 20 more years experience as a DC working for good HCs. I acknowledge that Baylor's adm at the time played a decent sized role in the Steele era being the Steele era as well.

That said the experience may have been so horrible for him as well that he may want no part in being a Hc.

It appears KS has come full circle - coaching defense at the alma mater of a linebacker named Kevin Greene that slammed his butt on the sidelines of a Carolina Panther's game on national TV right before he came to Baylor. Sadly, that was the only reason I knew his name, when TS apparently hired him to recruit Div II players (minus Shawn Bell & a few others) and carry the football program to the wretched depths that took us over a decade to climb out of...Well, that and so his brother could have a good paying college coaching job. (I had friends on the team that couldn't stand Dale Steele.)

My memory will never unsee the image of Steele apparently crying on Mack Brown's shoulder.

In that case, Arkansas should rehire Chad Morris and clear space for multiple NC trophies.
