Here it is the night before the Big 12 title and you're defending the honor of prison inmates a former coach recruited.

Two thoughts:

How blessed we have been to keep the ones we did. They have all represented Baylor with pride and vigor. For example, Chris Miller for all his warts has played in 43 games and started 23, not too shabby. Texada and Arnold have already made big contributions and they and Atkinson still have one more year. The highest rated recruits in the 2016 class left, and candidly most of them have not had the careers their stars suggested they would.

The whole recruiting process is a crap shoot. Injuries, grades, discipline, scheme among other issues have derailed many of those who left. Really only Duvernay and Osborne have been hugely impactful on an FBS level. Kam Martin has certainly played but never more than the member of a running back committee. Signing day is fast approaching, and as we either exult or bemoan this years class ranking, best to keep in mind the lessons of the class of 2016.
